Jeongwoo Kim Job Summary/Basic Functions The Department of Government at Eastern Kentucky University (EKU) invites applications for a tenure-track position at the rank of Assistant Professor for Academic Year 2026-2027. Applicants should hold an earned Ph.D. in Public Administration, Public Policy, Political Science or a related field from an accredited institution at the time of appointment. The application review date is December 15, 2025 and the position begins August 2026. The position serves the Master's of Public Administration and the undergraduate political science program. It requires the ability to develop and teach fully online classes. Candidates should be, or have the potential to be, a high-quality teacher and an active scholar. The successful candidate will teach graduate and undergraduate classes, including courses related to public administration and Introduction to American Government, in a 12-hour-per-semester teaching load. The successful candidate will also develop and maintain an active scholarly agenda, conduct academic advising, and participate in service to the department, university, and community. In addition, membership and participation in state, regional, national, or international professional organizations is recommended. The University places a high priority on being leaders in the responsible use of artificial intelligence and in building such capacity in our students. The successful candidate will demonstrate knowledge of artificial intelligence pertinent to the discipline and/or a willingness to pursue professional development to acquire such expertise.
Minimum Qualifications Education:
Ph.D. in Public Administration, Public Policy, Political Science or a related field from an accredited institution at the time of appointment
Experience:
Knowledge of current practices in professional communication and social media Effective interpersonal communication skills Strong oral and written communication skills Analytic and problems solving skills Active and effective listening skills Ability to collaborate with peers and students Ability to understand and adapt to current trends in professional communication

  • Maintain a 12-hour-per-semester teaching load, teaching courses as assigned at the times and in the locations necessary to meet the needs of EKU students
