Job Description

Job description: The Finance Director is responsible for providing overall leadership and management of the community's accounting functions and accounting team members in accordance with federal, state and local standards and regulations and Bertram House policies to promote the highest degree of quality care and services to our residents. Responsible for accounts payable, accounts receivable, cash control and fixed asset processing. Maintains proper documentation on all financial transactions of the community. Prepares financial analysis for the Two Executive Directors and the Board of Trustees. Reconciles the community's trial balance each month and ensures the community is maintaining financial internal business controls in accordance with Bertram House policy and procedures. Works with a full time assistant to oversee Payroll & Human Resources for the two Bertram Homes.
Essential Duties:
Accounting Manages the community's accounting functions and accounting team members in accordance with federal, state and local standards and regulations and Bertram House policies to promote the highest degree of quality care and services to our residents Reviews all input, manages data integrity controls, coordinates processing with Bertram House team, reviews and analyzes output reports Compiles charges for all ancillary services such as but not limited to barber/beauty, guest meals, therapy, medical supplies, etc. Manages and records daily census, base rate, and ancillary revenues into the General Ledger system Overall responsibility for maintaining timely billings and collections of account receivables Manages the reconciliation and control of cash accounts for resident deposits and petty cash accounts; responsible for timely bank deposits and concentration of cash; responsible for documentation, reconciliation and reporting 1099s Manages and completes the month end reconciliation to the general ledger and reporting Monitors all community key business controls each month and ensures they are executed in accordance with Bertram House policy Responsible for timely bank deposits Analyzes and reconciles timekeeping hours to the payroll register each pay period Overall responsibility for the preparation of the balance sheet reconciliations each month in accordance with department policy

Financial Management Reviews Profit & Loss (P&L) and pre-close trends to ensure accuracy of month end close Presents necessary financial schedules, reports and reconciliations to support the Board of Trustees and financial audits Records adjusting journal entries and closing entries as needed Assists the Two Executive Directors with maintaining reports used to manage community revenues and costs Manages the budget process Reviews monthly financial statements and implements plans of action around deficiencies

Payroll & Human Resources Creates and maintains team member personnel information in appropriate systems Ensures team members follow Federal, State, Local and Bertram House timekeeping policies in recording/punching hours worked Processes payroll and follows established business processes; submits accurate bi-weekly payroll by established schedule Coordinates, maintains and updates team member benefits administration and is a resource to direct team members for answers and resolutions Completes payroll reconciliation per Bertram House internal business controls Champions the team member on-boarding and welcome orientation process, maintains personnel files and binders according to Federal, State regulations and Bertram House policy Partners with leadership team by championing the overall recruitment process, performs background screenings, license verifications and other required screenings/verifications per Federal, State, Local regulations and Bertram House policy
