Job Description

Communications Administrator (Part-Time) Town of Chestertown, Maryland The Town of Chestertown is seeking a creative, organized, and community-oriented professional to serve as our next Communications Administrator . This part-time position plays a key role in connecting Town government with residents, businesses, visitors, and community organizations through effective communication, public outreach, and digital engagement. Location:
Chestertown, Maryland Key Responsibilities Community Engagement & Public Outreach Promote positive community engagement through proactive communication efforts Assist with planning, coordinating, and promoting Town events, meetings, programs, and initiatives Serve as a liaison between the Town and residents, businesses, and community organizations Attend community meetings and public events as assigned Respond to routine public inquiries and direct concerns appropriately Communications & Media Create and manage content for the Town's social media platforms Draft press releases, newsletters, announcements, and public notices Support consistent Town branding and messaging Monitor social media engagement and public feedback Website & Digital Content Maintain and update the Town website with current information and community resources Coordinate with departments to ensure timely and accurate online content Assist with graphics, photography, video, and other digital communication materials Administrative & Project Support Support special projects and community initiatives Assist with communication efforts related to municipal projects and services Maintain records and archives of communication materials Help coordinate and support Town events and activities Qualifications Associate or bachelor's degree in communications, public relations, marketing, journalism, public administration, political science, or a related field preferred At least one year of experience in communications, marketing, public engagement, customer service, administrative support, or a related field preferred Experience in local government, nonprofit, or community organizations is a plus Valid driver's license required Ideal Candidate The successful candidate will have: Strong written and verbal communication skills Experience with social media platforms and website content management Excellent organizational and multitasking abilities Strong customer service and public relations skills The ability to work independently and collaboratively A professional, positive, and community-focused attitude Work Environment This position works primarily in an office environment but also includes attendance at community meetings, events, and public activities. Some evening and occasional weekend hours may be required.
