Job Summary
POSITION TYPE
Full Time, Non-exempt hourly
JOB SUMMARY
This position is responsible for operating heavy equipment and performing street maintenance and repair duties in support of department operations.
MAJOR DUTIES
Operates heavy equipment and vehicles use in the repair and maintenance of city streets.

Transports equipment and tools to and from work sites.

Maintains and repairs equipment and tools and streets.

Assists concrete crew as needed; builds forms, removes, replaces and finishes concrete according to construction standards.

Assists with seasonal snow, ice, and leaf removal.

Assists in excavating materials from job sites.

Repairs concrete and asphalt streets as required.

Responds to emergency call out situations as required.

Assists with traffic control duties.

Performs other related duties as assigned.
KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED BY THE POSITION
Knowledge of front-end loaders, backhoes, dump trucks, and other types of heavy and light equipment used in the repair and maintenance of streets.

Knowledge of the tools, equipment, materials, and procedures used in the maintenance and repair of streets.

Skill in the operation of backhoes, dump trucks, and other related heavy and light equipment used in the repair and maintenance of streets.

Skill in the operation of street maintenance tools and equipment.

Skill in the use of chainsaws, weed eaters, and other power tools.

Skill in oral and written communication.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
High School graduation or equivalency and two (2) years experience and a demonstrated proficiency in various types of construction activities.

Must comply with Missouri CDL requirements and possess and maintain a valid Class "B" or better CDL with air brake endorsement.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Preference will be given to candidates that have experience and a demonstrated proficiency in heavy equipment operations on construction site.

Salary per hour $20.10, plus a generous benefit package.

Bi-weekly pay periods.

Thirteenpaid holidays per year.96 hours of vacation•accrued throughout the year.96 hours of sick leave•accrued throughout the year.2 days of personal leave per fiscal year. Must be employed on July 1 of the fiscal year to receive.

City paid monthly premiums for health and dental insurance•Employee only.

City paid monthly life insurance for employee only (1 times annual salary up to $50,000).Optional group term life insurance purchased at employee's expense.

Optional vision insurance purchased at employee's expense.

Voluntary deferred compensation plan•not matched by the City.

Retirement (LAGERS) paid by the City. Missouri LAGERS•A Secure Retirement for All (molagers.org).Total compensation value (Hourly starting rate plus benefits value) for this position is $29.14hourly.
