  • Master's preferred About the community Washington is a growing city of approximately 17,000 located 50 miles west of St.
Louis — the largest community between St. Louis County and Jefferson City. With a thriving historic downtown, strong financials, a $60M operating budget, and voter-approved capital investment programs underway, Washington is a community with real momentum and the organizational foundation to act on it. The role The City Administrator is the chief administrative officer, responsible for implementing policy direction set by the Mayor and City Council. This is a highly visible, hands-on leadership role overseeing daily operations, long-range planning, financial management, and all 18 municipal departments. The next administrator will step into one of the most active periods of public investment in Washington's history — with capital programs, a solid waste system transition, and major transportation projects all requiring experienced, steady leadership. Key responsibilities Serve as principal liaison to the Mayor and City Council Lead development and administration of the annual budget as designated Budget Officer Direct long-range planning, public works, and major infrastructure projects Oversee bidding, contracting, and procurement for all municipal projects Represent the City in intergovernmental and regional matters Supervise department heads and foster a culture of professional excellence What we're looking for People-centered leadership with a genuine commitment to staff development Proven experience managing capital improvement programs and public works projects Financial discipline — the ability to build and defend a municipal budget Collaborative, transparent governance style that respects elected and professional roles Visible community presence — relationships matter in Washington How to apply Submit a cover letter, salary requirements, and a detailed resume via email to apply@thequalitycoach.com.
