The Executive Director has a wide variety of interactions with funders, donors, businesses, clients, schools, counselors, and other human service agencies throughout Flathead County.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES
Ensures the execution of our mission of providing safe and stable housing to homeless teens. This includes but is not limited to: supervising all staff to ensure round the clock staffing requirements, providing assistance to the home in afternoon and evening hours when needed, providing emergency coverage when needed. Directs and leads the organization in setting strategic direction that meets the organization's goals and objectives created in partnership with the Board of Directors and Governance Committee; overseeing finances, grant development, investments, recruitment and stewardship of donors through the fund development plan in partnership with the Fund Development Committee. Prepares reports for and attends the Board of Directors and Committee meetings. Provides strategic vision and leadership for the Sparrow's Nest of NW MT; monitors issues, trends, and events in the community and advises the board on planned programs of action. Fosters cooperative relationships with government agencies, community groups, and other external partners to enhance and promote the organization. Delivers quality customer service to both internal and external constituents in a professional, helpful and courteous manner. Promotes a culture of leadership and transparency within a collaborative, team-oriented environment; supervises, recruits, develops, motivates, and evaluates a team in alignment with job expectations, professional roles, and the Sparrow's Nest of NW MT's mission. Oversees the promotion, development and organization of Sparrow's Nest of NW MT events, and represents the organization at various events. Represents the organization to the media and through public speaking engagements, develops and maintains solid working relations with members of the media to enhance and promote the Sparrow's Nest of NW MT, and attends state and regional meetings as needed. Oversees the case management and intake process for unaccompanied teens, ensures that teens are provided every opportunity to succeed under the program guidelines and receive the educational opportunities required to graduate from
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's degree in social work, psychology, and/or any related human services field AND three years of supervisory experience in human service related programs. Must pass a fingerprint based background check through the Montana Department of Justice.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Experience working with homeless youth Grantwriting and Fundraising experience Five years of supervisory experience Master's degree in related field
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
Strong skills in internal and external public relations, interviewing, community outreach, group process, and public speaking Strong knowledge of human service delivery systems and related human service programs Demonstrated knowledge of strategic planning process, project management and grant writing/fund development Demonstrated knowledge of best practices in management, governance and human resources Ability to work non-traditional schedules including evenings, weekends, etc. Demonstrated communication, diplomacy, presentation, customer service, client relationship building, management skills, problem solving and interpersonal skills Ability to work effectively with people from a variety of culturally diverse backgrounds and work with at risk populations in a non judgmental manner Ability to conduct interviews, complete research, make referrals, and coordinate with other community agencies Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality Ability to be available by telephone outside of normal business hours Ability to respond in the event of an emergency
