PUBLIC SAFETY TEACHER
Career & Technical Education | Sugar River Valley Regional Technical Center | Newport Have an impact by inspiring the next generation of emergency responders and public safety personnel as a career and technical education (CTE) teacher in the newly-created Public Safety Program (criminal justice / law enforcement, emergency medical services, fire service, and homeland security / emergency management). SRVRTC Newport values a supportive educator who is a team player with a passion for their industry. Interested, industry-qualified, and/or experienced applicants who are not currently credentialed as an educator are encouraged to apply. Various combinations of education and experience will be considered. Significant support is provided to obtain credentialing as an educator.
Responsibilities:
  • Plan and teach a comprehensive career and technical education (CTE) program of public safety.
  • Plan and teach elective courses related to public safety.
  • Meet district expectations for curriculum, instruction, and assessment.
  • Design course work to meet established CTE competencies.
  • Regularly maintain connections with industry, including but not limited to: Program Advisory Committee (PAC), local industry and regional public safety organizations.
  • Serve as a student advisor in conjunction with the high school, as assigned.
  • Maintain and properly utilize a variety of lab spaces and equipment including borrowed and shared public safety equipment / apparatus.
  • Promote and enforce safety expectations.
  • Research and procure equipment and supplies for upkeep and to maintain program relevance to industry.
  • Integrate industry connection into the curriculum, including field trips, guest speakers, and industry-related topics.
  • Participate in statewide public safety cluster.
  • Maintain a working knowledge or related industry techniques, procedures, equipment, markets, and best practices.
  • Follow all district and school policies and procedures.
  • Other duties as assigned. Qualifications
  • NH educators credential with endorsement in Law and Public Safety (0310), Criminal Justice (1729), and/or Fire Science and Emergency Management (1728), or ability to obtain a Statement of Eligibility (SOE) in one of these endorsement areas.
  • A candidate with the ability to be credentialed as an Early College adjunct professor through the Community College System of New Hampshire (CCSNH) is highly desirable.
  • Interested, industry-qualified, and/or experienced applicants who are not currently credentialed as an educator are encouraged to apply. Various combinations of education and experience will be considered. Significant support is provided to obtain credentialing as an educator.
  • Current or previous certification / credentialing in a criminal justice field, emergency medical services, and/or firefighting is highly desirable. Salary
  • Salary is per the Newport Teachers Association (NTA) collective bargaining agreement.
  • Opportunity for additional stipend as an FFA Advisor in addition to salary.
Position to remain open until filled. An initial review of applications will take place on April 13th with interviews to take place in early May. Anticipated start date of August 17, 2026.
