Carteret, NJ Job Details $85,000 - $100,000 a year 20 hours ago Benefits Health insurance Paid time off Retirement plan Qualifications Team leadership Supervising experience General management Full Job Description Director of Veterans Services The Director of Veterans Services is responsible for the leadership, development, implementation, and oversight of all veteran-focused programs and services at NJRC. The Director will ensure that all court-involved veterans receive comprehensive support services designed to promote stability, wellness, employment, education, housing access, behavioral health support, and successful community reintegration. This position requires strong leadership, program management, partnership development, and knowledge of issues affecting veterans. The Director will work collaboratively with internal departments, veteran groups, Veterans Administration, community organizations, courts, correctional institutions, government agencies, and service providers to expand and improve services for veterans. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Develop, manage, and oversee all veteran services programs and initiatives for veterans. Ensure programs comply with all federal, state, local, and grant requirements.
Build and maintain partnerships with:
Veterans Administration agencies, NJ State agencies servicing veterans, courts, probation and parole departments, correctional facilities, veteran-serving organizations, workforce development agencies, healthcare providers, and housing organizations. Supervise veterans services staff and program coordinators. Monitor program performance, outcomes, and reporting requirements. Develop strategic plans to expand outreach and supportive services for veterans. Assist with grant writing, reporting, and funding opportunities. Coordinate referrals and supportive services including: housing assistance, employment services, behavioral health services, benefits navigation, substance use recovery support, workforce development, financial literacy, and wellness services. Conduct outreach and represent Veterans Outreach Services NJRC at meetings, conferences, veteran events, and court-related initiatives. Assist in crisis intervention and coordination of emergency support services when necessary. Ensure trauma-informed and culturally competent service delivery. Maintain accurate program records and documentation. Prepare reports and presentations for leadership and funding agencies. Support NJRC's mission and strategic initiatives. Education Master's degree required in: Social Work, Public Administration, Counseling, Human Services, Psychology, Nonprofit Management, Criminal Justice, or related field. Experience Minimum of 5 years of leadership or management experience in veterans services, criminal justice programs, nonprofit management, social services, workforce development, or related programs. Experience working with veterans, justice-impacted individuals, military families, or underserved populations strongly preferred. Experience supervising staff and managing community-based programs. Grant management and program development experience preferred. Military service or experience working within veteran-serving systems strongly preferred. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Strong understanding of veterans' issues, military culture, and challenges facing court-involved veterans. Knowledge of community-based support programs, social services, criminal justice systems, and reentry services. Excellent leadership, organizational, and communication skills. Ability to build collaborative partnerships with courts, government agencies, and community organizations. Strong problem-solving and program management abilities. Experience with data collection, reporting, and program evaluation. Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment. Proficiency in Microsoft Office and case management systems.
Salary and Benefits Salary range:
