Position:
The Public Information Officer (PIO) serves as the principal communications and public affairs representative for the Third Judicial District Attorney's Office. Reporting directly to the District Attorney, the PIO is responsible for planning, developing, and implementing communication strategies that enhance public understanding of the criminal justice system, promote confidence in the Office, and support community engagement initiatives. The position serves as the primary spokesperson and media liaison for the Office and manages public communications through traditional media, digital platforms, community outreach efforts, and other public-facing channels. In addition to media and public relations responsibilities, the PIO collaborates with attorneys, investigators, victim-witness personnel, law enforcement agencies, and community stakeholders to communicate the mission, programs, and accomplishments of the Office. The position also assists with Inspection of Public Records Act (IPRA) requests, special projects assigned by the District Attorney, and strategic initiatives designed to strengthen transparency, accountability, and public trust throughout Doña Ana County.
Minimum Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in criminal justice, public administration, business administration, public relations, marketing, communications, or related field. Degree plus four (4) years of related work experience; or any combination of experience and/or education in a related field totaling at least six (6) years.
