How does it get done? The major duties of the Southern Deputy Director position will be to provide direction, supervision, and manage the functioning of both investigation and permanency units in their assigned region to ensure that they adhere to policy and procedure. This will be done by reviewing and assessing the organizational structure of multiple regions and monitoring the hiring of the leadership positions in that area and ensuring that supervision training and support occurs for both the leadership and the staff under their charge. This position will ensure that the investigations service area investigates all referrals assigned to each region through state-wide central intake, and that those investigations are completed timely within policy and procedure. The deputy director will ensure that all leadership is trained and safety assessment and safety management to ensure that all children are safe from abuse and neglect, and that custody is taken of children to protect them, and that safety plans are utilized only when able to keep a child safe within their family structure, and that assessment and planning results in children being reunified or adopted into safe and permanent homes. This position will also oversee the permanency service areas ensuring that key performance metrics are met in regard to achieving timely performance through reunification, adoption, or guardianship. Develop and maintain an organizational structure that facilitates the provision of quality services to PS customers to assist them in meeting the agency's mission, vision and goals and to achieve the division's strategic plan, and other mandates. Assume responsibility for the development and Implementation of Protective Services infrastructure projects and functions, for example, federal plan, agency policies and procedures, and strategic plans. Minimum Qualification Bachelor's Degree in Social Work, Psychology, Guidance and Counseling, Education, Sociology, Criminal Justice, Criminology, or Family Studies/Services and ten (10) years of experience as a social work assistant and/or in social or community coordination, working with communities, working on health or social service related matters, social work/case management experience, health care, and/or behavioral health care, of which four (4) years must be supervisory experience. Any combination of education from an accredited college or university in a related field and/or direct experience in this occupation totaling fourteen (14) years may substitute for the required education and experience. Employment Requirements Must possess and maintain a valid Driver's License. Must possess and maintain a current Defensive Driving Course Certificate from the State of New Mexico or must pass and receive Defensive Driving Course Certification as a condition of continued employment. Pre-employment background investigation is required and is conditional pending results. Working Conditions Work is performed in an office setting: late hours, weekends, on-call and callback work may be required. Will be exposed to regular periods of video display terminal and keyboard usage and stressful situations. Extensive travel is required. Possible exposure to irate clientele.
