Job Description
Job Summary We are seeking a part time dynamic and strategic Public Affairs Director to lead our organization's advocacy, government affairs, public relations, media engagement, and strategic communication efforts. In this pivotal role, you will monitor and conduct research on enacted and proposed ordinances and regulations at both the city and county level that impact the real estate industry and homeowners. The position will direct the association's Aristotle member advocacy and broker involvement programs to mobilize coordinated action on issues. The PR Director will serve as staff liaison to the association's Government Affairs Committee, RPAC Committee, and Candidate Selection and Contribution Committee. The position serves as back-up to the Chief Executive and other other staff as required and performs any other duties as assigned by the Chief Executive. Duties Government and Public Affairs 1. Monitor and analyze local government entities and their actions in order to assess the potential impact on the real estate industry, the Association, and the operations of the City and County of Santa Fe. 2. Educate and update members promptly on local government actions and provide recommended responses on issues or activities that could impact the real estate industry. 3. Develop talking points for leadership, staff and members to help ensure "one voice" for the real estate community on issues of key importance to the Association. 4. Develop and maintain strong working relationships in coordination with Realtor Liaisons with elected officials and key staff (i .e., Land Use and Affordable Housing Directors ) 5. Develop and maintain strong working relationships with key groups advocating for housing such as homebuilders, chamber of commerce, architects, developers, homelessness, trusts or foundations, among others to advance the goals and mission of the association. 6. Develop action alert messages using the Aristotle system and other messages as needed to effectively mobilize members on key issues 7. Provide, at a minimum, a monthly written report of government actions to the Board that may include local, state and national activities. 8. Assist in the development, introduction and passage of legislation, as directed by SFAR leadership, to meet the goals of the Association in the area of government affairs. 9. Schedule candidate forums as well as establishing and implementing procedures for candidate forums to better educate the membership on the candidate's platform. 10. Update and remain knowledgeable regarding any SFAR policies and positions on local government issues. 11. Serve as spokesperson for the Association, as needed and directed by Chief Executive or President. 12. Work closely with SFAR staff to advance housing policies through strategic funding submissions to access NAR's Grant programs and available advocacy tools. 13. Work closely with Chief Executive to draft monthly articles for the local HOME Magazine, President's message and other membership correspondence. 14. Provide SFAR Leadership and members with an annual report describing how the Association met any strategic plan goals for government affairs as well as recommendations for the upcoming year. 15.
