Job Description
- This position may be eligible for remote work for up to 2 days per week, pursuant to the Flexible Work Pilot Program.
- The NYC Department of Consumer and Worker Protection (DCWP) protects and enhances the daily economic lives of New Yorkers to create thriving communities.
- Supervising subordinate staff to conduct and interpret research/data, monitor legislation, and propose legislation impacting issues around consumer protection, worker protection, and financial empowerment in New York City;
- Coordinating with DCWP's divisional leadership on research efforts, including data analysis, legislation and advocacy;
- Leading DCWP's participation in public hearings before legislative or regulatory bodies, including drafting public testimony that leverages data analysis to outline the agency's policy positions;
- Liaising with the Mayor's Office, including the offices for city, state, and federal legislative affairs, to advance proactive legislation and policy proposals;
- Establishing and building relationships with key government agencies, research/data and advocacy organizations, and other social science experts related to DCWP's legislative agenda;
- Drafting reports and maintaining records/data, as well as managing other special projects or tasks, as needed;
- Directing DCWP's efforts to request, gather, and transcribe public comments on proposed DCWP rules.
