Job Description
The Director of International Education provides leadership in developing and implementing the strategic vision and mission of thecollege's International Education Department. The position supports international students while ensuring the College's compliancewith international student federal regulations . The position is responsible for overall operations, including program managementand evaluation, budget management, staff management, and policy management. Why work for Sinclair College? Thefollowing are some of the benefits that professional staff with Sinclair College receive: Tuition waiver for employee anddependents for all Sinclair courses and programs Support for continued training and education, including tuition reimbursement forother universities and colleges OPERS pension participation option, with 14% employer contribution 4+ weeks of personaland vacation leave, 3+ weeks of sick leave annually 14 days of annually observed company holidays Expansive andcompetitive insurance programs, including an HSA with annual employer contribution available High quality programs and events forwork-life balance Principal Accountabilities Develops long-term goals that are in concertwith the college priorities Provide leadership in the development and implementation of the department's goals and priorities, andmonitor and make continuous improvements to department operations Collect and analyze data to assess international studentexperiences Develop and implement strategies and initiatives to increase internationalization at Sinclair Develop andimplement global professional development opportunities for both students, faculty, and staff Develop opportunities for Sinclairstudents to engage in global learning through study abroad and COIL (Collaborative Online International Learning) programs Maintain and support work with the International Education Advisory Committee Develop and maintain engagement with area businessesand community organizations with global interests Maintain effective and efficient flow of communication between collegedepartments and external partners to foster collaboration and services related to international student initiatives Develop andoversee appropriate policies and procedures, in particular SEVIS and related compliance with DHS Manage departmental operations,staff, and budget Resolve student concerns and requests All other duties as assigned Requirements Minimum of a Master's degree in a related field required Minimum of 3 years workingexperience in and knowledge of international student trends and issues required Minimum of 3 years experience and knowledge ofimmigration laws, federal laws, and guidelines pertaining to F-1 student visas are required Minimum of 1 year of experience in aneducational and/or student activities setting is required Minimum of 3 years of demonstrated leadership ability with successfuladministrative or supervisory experience is required; 5 years or more preferred Ability to effectively serve students from variedacademic and personal backgrounds Demonstrated understanding of the educational and social needs of international populations isrequired Demonstrated ability to cultivate and build relationships within international communities is required
