Executive Director - Housing Alliance of Pennsylvania Salary $135,000 - 145,000 with potential annual performance bonus Pennsylvania | Full-Time | Remote with Statewide Travel Impact the Future of Affordable Housing Across Pennsylvania The Housing Alliance of Pennsylvania is seeking an accomplished, collaborative, and strategic Executive Director to lead a statewide organization dedicated to ensuring that all Pennsylvanians, especially those living on low incomes, have access to safe, decent, accessible, and affordable homes. Reporting directly to the Board of Directors, the Executive Director serves as the organization's leader, spokesperson, and public face, providing strategic direction while working closely with staff, members, policymakers, funders, and partners throughout Pennsylvania. The next Executive Director will have the opportunity to build upon this established statewide network while strengthening the organization's voice, expanding its impact, and ensuring the Housing Alliance remains a trusted resource and effective advocate for housing throughout Pennsylvania. Your Leadership Opportunity The next Executive Director will work in partnership with the Board, staff, members, and stakeholders to guide the Housing Alliance's future while remaining connected to the communities and organizations it serves. The Housing Alliance is seeking a visible, engaged, and strategic leader who can bring together public policy expertise, coalition building, advocacy, organizational leadership, financial stewardship, and strong communication. Success will ultimately be measured by the organization's ability to bring diverse interests together, influence housing policy and resources, strengthen its statewide coalition, and advance meaningful solutions that help ensure every Pennsylvanian has access to a safe and affordable home. Primary Areas of Executive Leadership Statewide Coalition Building & Advocacy Build, strengthen, and engage a diverse statewide coalition representing urban, suburban, and rural communities. Develop trusted relationships with members, policymakers, government officials, peer organizations, funders, and community partners. Ensure the organization's priorities reflect the needs, perspectives, and concerns of its members and stakeholders. Engage and support members in advocating for policies and resources that advance affordable housing throughout Pennsylvania. Maintain a positive, solutions-oriented, and nonpartisan approach to advocacy and public policy. Strategic Leadership & Governance Partner with the Board, staff, and members to establish and advance the organization's vision, strategic direction, and priorities. Translate strategic priorities into annual operating plans, measurable goals, and meaningful results. Monitor housing, economic, political, and community trends and incorporate them into organizational planning. Support the Board in fulfilling its governance, strategic, and fiduciary responsibilities. Serve as the primary connection between the Board and staff. Housing Policy & Programs Provide leadership on state, federal, and local issues involving affordable housing, homelessness, homeownership, blight, community development, and housing funding. Oversee the development and delivery of information, education, outreach, training, and technical assistance programs. Establish annual program goals, monitor progress, and adjust strategies as needed. Ensure the Housing Alliance remains a trusted source of information and expertise on housing issues across Pennsylvania. Financial Sustainability & Resource Development Ensure the organization has the financial resources necessary to advance its mission and strategic priorities. Lead and support revenue development through grants, membership, conferences, fee-for-service contracts, donor relationships, and other opportunities. Serve as a key relationship builder with funders and donors. Oversee development and management of the annual budget and long-term financial planning. Ensure strong financial controls, reporting, compliance, cash-flow management, and stewardship of organizational resources. Provide the Board and Finance/Audit Committee with timely and accurate information necessary to fulfill their fiduciary responsibilities. People & Organizational Leadership Lead, support, develop, and retain a talented and committed staff. Foster an organizational culture that reflects the Housing Alliance's mission and values while encouraging collaboration, communication, accountability, and professional growth. Ensure staff understand organizational priorities and have the information and resources necessary to succeed. Develop leadership capacity and support succession planning throughout the organization. Maintain strong organizational policies, practices, and regulatory compliance. Communications & External Leadership Serve as the Housing Alliance's chief spokesperson and public representative. Communicate complex housing and public policy issues clearly and effectively to diverse audiences. Develop and maintain strong relationships with the media, policymakers, members, partners, and other stakeholders. Guide the organization's overall communications and media strategy. Ensure consistent, high-quality communication across the organization's publications, website, presentations, webinars, and other platforms. Executive Leadership Profile & Qualifications Experience Significant professional leadership experience with a demonstrated ability to lead an organization, coalition, association, or complex mission-driven initiative. Experience in community organizing, public policy, government relations, lobbying, advocacy, or related work. Demonstrated ability to build and sustain coalitions and work effectively with diverse constituencies and perspectives. Strong knowledge of housing and community development issues, including affordable housing, homelessness, homeownership, and blight. Experience working effectively with policymakers, government officials, Boards, staff, members, funders, and community stakeholders. Demonstrated experience with fundraising, financial management, and organizational sustainability. Experience leading, developing, and supporting staff and building a strong organizational culture. Preferred Qualifications Strong knowledge of state, federal, and local housing policy, programs, and funding. Experience working within Pennsylvania's public policy, housing, community development, nonprofit, or advocacy environment. Demonstrated advocacy, government relations, or lobbying experience. Strong written, verbal, public speaking, and media communication skills. Demonstrated creativity, strategic thinking, problem-solving ability, and sound judgment. Ability to build relationships and work effectively across differing perspectives in a nonpartisan environment. Ability and willingness to travel throughout Pennsylvania.
