Full-Time, $60,000 - $65,000 annually Westchester Residential Opportunities (WRO) is a nonprofit organization located in White Plains, New York whose mission is to promote fair, affordable and accessible housing for all individuals in the Lower Hudson Valley region. WRO employs a variety of tools to advance this objective including civil rights testing and investigation, education and outreach, training and advocacy, research, collaboration and enforcement.
Position Summary:
A Fair Housing Test Coordinator manages and conducts fair housing testing programs designed to identify and document housing discrimination under federal, state and local fair housing laws. This role is critical in ensuring fair and equal access to housing opportunities.
Key Responsibilities:
Program Coordination & Oversight Supervise and manage one or more fair housing staff members Supervise deliverables and grant reporting for one or more fair housing grants Support the entire fair housing department in achieving their goals Test Planning & Execution Recruit, train, and retain a diverse pool of testers Design, implement, and manage fair housing testing assignments (rental, sales, lending, insurance) based on complaints or systemic investigations Review completed test reports for accuracy, consistency, and completeness Intake and Outreach Develop and maintain relationships with realtors, community organizations and governmental agencies Conduct complaint intake and investigation Plan, schedule and present fair housing outreach and education events and materials Reporting & Compliance Track departmental information using basic office technology, including Microsoft and GoogleSuite tools Maintain strict confidentiality and data integrity Conduct quality assurance reviews of testing files Enforcement Evaluate results of investigations and make recommendations for enforcement Maintain organized records for potential investigations or litigation Assist in preparing cases for administrative complaints or court proceedings Other duties as assigned by the
Fair Housing Director Qualifications:
Education & Experience Bachelor's degree in public policy, social work, criminal justice, or related field (or equivalent experience) Experience in fair housing, civil rights, investigations, or nonprofit program coordination preferred Skills Strong attention to detail and analytical thinking Ability to manage multiple cases and deadlines Excellent written and verbal communication Discretion handling sensitive/confidential information Spanish language a plus Team player Preferred Knowledge Familiarity with fair housing law Understanding of discrimination indicators (race, disability, familial status, etc.) Experience with case management or database systems Work Environment Full-time position at White Plains office, typically Monday-Friday 9am-5pm, with occasional evening/weekend events.
