Description:
The City of Cibolo is seeking a highly qualified professional to join our team as the Director of Public Works. As a key member of the executive team, the Director of Public Works primary responsibilities include planning, managing, and directing the daily operations and services of the Public Works Department. Key functions of the position include planning, administering and monitoring of a $15.8 million department budget, approving expenditures, and implementing adjustments as needed. This role will be extensively involved in emergency management operations and adverse weather situations, as well as collaborating with other departments and community groups for major special events hosted in Cibolo, which require an 'all hands-on deck' approach for the safety, security, and enjoyment of residents and visitors.
Experience:
The preferred way to obtain the minimum knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the essential duties and responsibilities of this position are listed below. The City reserves the right to allow substitutions if a candidate exceeds requirements in one area but may be deficient in another.
Education:
Bachelors degree from an accredited four-year college or university, with major course work in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Water Resource Planning, Business Administration, Public Administration, or a related field.
Experience:
Seven (7) years of progressive responsible experience in the administration and planning of water utility operations, wastewater collection/treatment services, groundwater, surface water, infrastructure management, which includes at least three (3) years of significant supervisory or management experience.
Licenses:
Professional Engineer (PE), and TCEQ Water and Wastewater License are preferred. Must have a valid Texas Drivers License or obtain one within three (3) months of hire.
Compensation:
Salary range is $118,247.90 - $177,371.84 (DOE) plus an outstanding fringe benefit package which includes excellent health/vision/dental insurance covered at 100% for the employee, a 2:1 matching ratio with the Texas Municipal Retirement System (TMRS), 15 vacation days per year, 12 paid holidays per year (to include 2 floating holidays awarded at the beginning of the fiscal year), etc.
