CITY OF CUMBY - PUBLIC WORKS HELPER
Full-Time Position The City of Cumby is accepting applications for a Public Works Helper. This position plays a vital role in maintaining and improving the City's infrastructure and essential services that keep our community strong. Position Responsibilities The Public Works Helper will assist with the daily operation, maintenance, and repair of City infrastructure and facilities.
Primary duties include:
Operate and maintain the City's water distribution system Operate and maintain the wastewater collection system and lift stations Perform water main repairs, valve replacements, and service line repairs Perform street maintenance, including patching, signage, and general upkeep Perform mowing, weed eating, and general grounds maintenance Operate and maintain City equipment and vehicles Perform other duties as assigned in support of the Public Works Department What the City Offers Competitive wages based on experience and qualifications Monthly medical stipend to assist with healthcare costs TMRS retirement through the Texas Municipal Retirement System Paid time off, including vacation, sick leave, and holidays The opportunity to perform meaningful work that makes a difference in the community every day How to Apply Applications may be picked up at: Cumby City Hall 100 E. Qualifications:
Qualifications & Experience Applicants should possess: High school diploma or GED 2+ years of experience in public works, water distribution, wastewater systems, or a related field Valid Texas Driver s License Ability to obtain required TCEQ water and wastewater certifications, or currently hold applicable certifications Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions Strong work ethic and ability to work effectively as part of a team
