The City of Eastland is accepting applications for temporary full-time Fire Mitigation employee in the Public Works Department. Under general supervision, the Fire Mitigation employee performs wildfire risk reduction and prevention activities within municipal boundaries and surrounding jurisdictions. This position supports community wildfire protection efforts by conducting defensible space inspections, and vegetation management. The employee works independently and as part of a crew to reduce hazardous fuels, improve community resilience, and enhance public safety. Perform vegetation management including brush clearing, thinning, pruning, mowing, and debris removal. Must be able to work in outdoor environment operating large and small equipment. Must be able to operate and maintain hand tools, chainsaws, chippers, mowers, and other equipment safely and efficiently. High school education or equivalent, and a valid Class C Texas DL required. Must pass preemployment background check and drug test.
