Position Details Position Information Posting Number AS516P Position Title Director of TRIO Upward Bound Contract Length N/A Class Summary Incumbent is responsible for directing and supervising all activities related to the provision of the Upward Bound (TRIO) program. Candidates Eligible to Apply Internal/External Position Type Exempt Staff Employment Status Full Time Position Funding Type Grant Posting Detail Information Minimum Education/Training/Experience Master's Degree in counseling or education and five (5) years of experience in higher education program or high school program that facilitates low-income, first-generation students attending college. Or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job. Preferred Education/Training/Experience Experience at the Director level Experience working in a community college or closely with a community college Experience working in Trio programs or other similar programs in the high school that serve low-income, first-generation students Minimum Knowledge & Skills Applicable computer programs and equipment; Fiscal management practices; Supervisory principles; Budget planning and monitoring; Training program principles, practices and techniques. Strong organizational and project management skills Strong interpersonal skills Monitoring and evaluating staff; Prioritizing work and performing multiple tasks; Using computers and software application programs; Facilitating effective group interactions; Providing student events; Negotiations and solving problems; Communication, interpersonal skills as applied to interaction with coworkers, supervisor, the general public, etc. sufficient to exchange or convey information and to receive work direction. Preferred Knowledge & Skills Knowledge working with Student Access Knowledge working with Datatel Colleague Knowledge of federal grant funding processes and procedures Experience grant writing Licensing/Certification Requirements N/A Job Duties Supervises staff to include: prioritizing and assigning work; conducting performance evaluations; ensuring staff is trained; and, making hiring, termination, and disciplinary recommendations. Develop, implement and evaluate programs designed to retain, graduate students from high school and successfully transition them into college. Interface with target high school administration, staff, and faculty and community agencies in the provision of student services. Advises and counsels program participants on appropriate high school and college plans. Develop, schedule and oversee Saturday meetings, college trips, student success workshops, cultural events, intensive summer program and recognition events. Manage budgets, expense and revenue reports, and other reports required by the Department of Education. Prepares continuation budgets and competitive program proposal in a timely manner. Serves as liaison to area schools, college administrators and community agencies to ensure success of the program Work with federal regulations to ensure appropriate implementation of program services Responsible for submission of annual performance report to the Department of Education Supervises the maintenance of accurate Upward Bound data to generate monthly/quarterly/annual reports that evaluate the performance of participants and the attainment of project objectives and meet reporting deadlines early or on-time. Performs other duties of a similar nature or level. Physical Requirements No or very limited physical effort required. No or very limited exposure to physical risk. Work is normally performed in a typical interior/office work environment. Saturday work is required for this position. Minimum Salary Range $53,532 Mid Point Salary Range .
