Job Description

Utah Valley University is seeking a collaborative and mission-driven leader to guide the clinical field education experience within its Bachelor of Social Work program. This role offers the opportunity to shape meaningful partnerships with community agencies while ensuring students gain high-quality, hands-on learning experiences that reflect real-world practice. The Director plays a central role in preparing future social workers by mentoring students to think critically, act intentionally, and practice with professionalism, ethics, and integrity. This position is ideal for an experienced social worker who is passionate about student development, community engagement, and advancing practice-ready education. In this role, you will influence both program quality and student success by overseeing field placements, teaching practicum and seminar courses, and ensuring alignment with CSWE standards and evolving workforce needs. As the BSW program continues to expand, this position offers the chance to make a lasting impact through leadership, innovation, and continuous improvement across fall, spring, and summer terms. Provides oversight and direction to the Bachelor of Social Work field education program. Consults on field placement and student-related problems, concerns, and grievances and ensures appropriate resolution. Monitors the implementation of field education policies and procedures in the BSW Program in accordance with the Council on Social Work Education's CSWE Educational Policy and Accreditation Standards EPAS related to field education. Ensures that field education in the BSW Program adheres to certification and licensure requirements for Social Services Workers SSWs who will be practicing in Utah. Promotes, strengthens, and maintains strong working relationships with the professional community at practicum sites as well as the larger community. Evaluate, regulate, and supervise field setting and field instructor effectiveness through field site visits to ensure compliance with CSWE accreditation requirements. Acts as a liaison between social work practitioners in the community and the BSW program director, including assessing trends in social work practice within the community to recommend curriculum changes. Teaches Field and Seminar courses. Assess and ensure students attain proficiency in CSWE-prescribed competencies across all system levels, individual, family groups, organizations, and communities through observation, student reflections and assignments, interviews, and surveys of students and field instructors. Manage documentation of compliance with all UVU and BSW program policies, including internship agreement in coordination with UVU Contracts officer, Agency Accreditation Compliance Agreement, Student Practicum Application, Field Placement Agreement, Timesheets, and Supervision documentation. Plans, coordinates, and executes BSW field education trainings for students and field instructors, as well as BSW field placement events, Field Instructor trainings, and conferences. Department meetings, working with BSW program director and overall BSW program faculty & staff, serving as part of the BSW admissions review committee, working with BSW director to update and maintain necessary documentation, assessment for CSWE accreditation, and other job-related duties as assigned Master of Social Work from a CSWE-accredited program plus two years of experience directly related to the summary of duties. Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW).
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience supervising students in an agency setting. Knowledge Social work models and theories of client engagement, assessment, intervention, and evaluation of practice in social work practice settings in the Utah County region. Knowledge of NASW Code of Ethics. Council on Social Work Education accreditation standards relevant for field education. Knowledge of BSW curriculum. Skills Excellent interpersonal and written communication skills. Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail. Excellent time management skills. Skilled in data management. Professional social work practice. Skilled in conflict resolution. Abilities Ability to develop and maintain excellent professional relationships. Ability to manage and prioritize multiple tasks. Ability to work effectively with faculty, staff, students, agency administrators, and community practitioners from broad ethnic, cultural, and socioeconomic backgrounds. Ability to demonstrate sound judgment and initiative in solving problems. Ability to work independently. Ability to work proactively and cooperatively with the BSW program director.
