We offer South Sound residents compassionate, experienced, and innovative treatment in cancer care, and have an immediate opportunity for an experienced Director of Finance to join our team. The Director of Finance is responsible for the overall financial leadership of the organization, combining strategic financial planning with full controllership oversight. This role ensures the integrity of financial reporting, compliance with regulatory and accounting standards, strong internal controls, and timely, accurate information to support executive decision-making. The Director of Finance leads the accounting function, manages treasury and risk, oversees audits and tax compliance, and partners with leadership on budgeting, forecasting, and performance analysis.
Essential Duties include:
Financial Accounting & Controllership Provide full oversight of all accounting operations, including but not limited to: General ledger Payroll Accounts payable and accounts receivable Fixed assets Financial activity Bank reconciliations Revenue cycle MD Compensation Shareholder reporting Ensure timely and accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with applicable accounting standards. Own and manage the monthly close process, including review of journal entries, account reconciliations, and variance analyses. Maintain and monitor balance sheet account reconciliations and ensure proper documentation and resolution of discrepancies. Establish, document, and maintain accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls to safeguard assets and ensure financial integrity. Continuously evaluate and improve accounting processes, systems, and controls for efficiency and scalability. Reporting & Analysis Prepare and distribute monthly financial reports, ensuring accuracy, clarity, and timeliness. Develop and maintain internal financial and operating reports, dashboards, and KPIs for leadership and department heads. Analyze actual performance versus budget and forecast, identifying trends, risks, and opportunities. Coordinate financial analysis and reporting efforts with Data and Analytics staff to ensure consistent, actionable insights. Serve as a key financial advisor to executive leadership, translating financial results into strategic implications. Budgeting, Forecasting & Planning Lead the preparation of the annual operating budget, including coordination with department leaders. Develop ongoing forecasts and long-range financial plans to support organizational strategy. Monitor financial performance against budget and forecast, recommending corrective actions as needed. Support business planning initiatives. Treasury, Tax, and Compliance Manage treasury functions, including: Cash management and planning Banking relationships Debt compliance and covenant monitoring Oversee tax compliance activities, including preparation and/or coordination of: Federal, state, and local tax filings 1099 reporting Serve as primary liaison with external auditors and tax advisors. Lead all financial audits, including preparation, coordination, and response to audit requests. Report all audit findings, deficiencies, or discrepancies to senior leadership and ensure timely remediation. Risk Management & Insurance Ensure corporate insurance policies are adequate, current, and aligned with organizational risk exposure. Manage health and welfare insurance programs, including renewals, plan changes, and enrollment processes. Maintain and organize a centralized library of legal, financial, and governance documents. Leadership & People Management Hire, train, develop and manage department staff. Set clear performance expectations and provide coaching, feedback, and professional development. Foster a culture of accountability, accuracy, continuous improvement, and collaboration within the finance team. Governance & Internal Controls Ensure compliance with all applicable laws, regulations, and organizational policies. Monitor and assess financial and operational risks; recommend mitigation strategies. Support organizational governance requirements related to financial reporting and oversight.
Requirements :
Bachelor's degree in business, preferably in accounting, finance or management from an accredited college or university Ten (10) years of direct, progressive, responsible financial management experience, five (5) of which must be in accounting and include five (5) years of supervisory experience. Healthcare industry experience required. Excellent oral and written communications, and ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with shareholders, management team, general staff and outside stakeholders Comprehensive knowledge of the principles and methods of financial accounting, budgeting, auditing, risk management, benefits administration and treasury functions. Comprehensive knowledge of the laws, regulations, and standards pertaining to financial management. Ability to effectively monitor and assure the high-level performance of the Finance/Accounting Department. Excellent working knowledge of and skilled use of reporting, analytic and communication software tools. Exceptional organizational skills, attention to detail and timely completion of assignments.
