Job Description

We are looking for an accomplished finance leader to oversee financial strategy and departmental operations for a mission-driven organization in Puyallup, Washington. This role will guide core finance functions, support executive decision-making, and strengthen long-range planning through sound fiscal leadership. The Director of Finance will partner across the organization to improve performance, ensure compliance, and help shape sustainable growth through effective budgeting, reporting, and resource management.
Responsibilities:
  • Lead the finance department and provide direction across accounting, budgeting, financial reporting, treasury activities, audit coordination, and procurement oversight.
  • Serve as a strategic partner to executive leadership by contributing financial insight, supporting organizational planning, and evaluating funding opportunities and program budgets.
  • Establish departmental priorities, implement operating policies and procedures, and allocate staff and resources to improve efficiency and service delivery.
  • Manage and develop finance team members through hiring, coaching, performance feedback, succession planning, and corrective action when needed.
  • Oversee the preparation and administration of organizational budgets, monitor spending trends, and ensure execution aligns with approved financial plans.
  • Direct the production of financial analyses, forecasts, statements, and management reports to support policy decisions and long-term planning.
  • Evaluate internal workflows, reporting structures, and support systems to identify opportunities for improvement and lead operational changes.
  • Advise department leaders on financial matters, collaborate across functions to resolve organizational issues, and help implement agency-wide initiatives and board-directed priorities.
  • Coordinate internal and external audit activities, support month-end close processes, and ensure the integrity of financial records and compliance obligations.
The salary range for this position is $135k to $155k. Benefits available with this position include medical, dental and vision; life and disability insurances; participation in the company's 401(k) plan with a match and 15 days of paid vacation, 5 days of paid sick leave and 10 paid holidays per calendar year
