Job Description

Job Overview Southern West Virginia Housing is seeking a self-motivated and organized Public Housing Manager to oversee the daily operations of the agency's public housing communities. This position is responsible for supervising staff, coordinating maintenance activities, ensuring regulatory compliance, working with residents, and helping maintain safe, quality housing for families in our service area. The successful candidate will be a strong leader who can manage multiple priorities, communicate effectively, solve problems, and hold themselves and others accountable to established goals and deadlines within the parameters of HUD-funded programming. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Oversee the day-to-day operation of agency-owned housing communities. Supervise public housing and maintenance staff. Comply with HUD health and safety metrics such as NSPIRE. Coordinate property maintenance, repairs, inspections, and unit turnover activities. Ensure agency policies and program requirements are followed. Maintain accurate records and documentation. Respond to resident concerns and assist in resolving issues. Monitor occupancy, leasing, and resident files. Coordinate with contractors, vendors, inspectors, and community partners. Assist with planning and implementation of property improvements and capital projects. Prepare reports and communicate regularly with agency leadership regarding program performance and property conditions. Promote a safe, professional, and customer-service-oriented environment for residents and staff. Qualifications Bachelor's degree preferred; equivalent education, training, or work experience will be considered. Three years of management, property management, housing, facilities, maintenance, construction, local government, or related experience preferred. Supervisory experience strongly preferred. Ability to organize work, manage competing priorities, and meet deadlines. Strong communication and problem-solving skills. Working knowledge of Microsoft Office products. Ability to work within data systems to do reporting. Valid driver's license and reliable transportation. Preferred Qualifications Experience working with affordable housing programs. Experience supervising maintenance operations or property management activities. Knowledge of HUD programs, regulations, or systems is a strong basis for hiring preference, but is not required. Experience with inspections, compliance activities, or federally funded programs.
