Full Job Description Position Summary:
The Purchasing Clerk is responsible for overseeing all inventory, supplies and capital goods purchases for the company. They evaluate and recommend vendors and determine the most cost-effective inventory and reorder levels.
Essential Responsibilities:
Responsible for efficiently purchasing inventory, supplies, and capital equipment. Receives purchase requisitions and verifies for accuracy and authorization(s). Buys according to established company policies and procedures; maintains accurate purchasing records. Maintains rapport and good working relationship with vendors; keeps accurate records. Evaluates inventory reorder levels and quantity price breaks, to determine most economical purchasing of inventory and supplies in relationship to company's cost of capital. Prepares monthly reports and reviews forecast of purchasing commitments. Expedites purchase orders as necessary and ensures delivery of purchased items for uninterrupted manufacturing flow. Performs other purchasing or inventory control duties as necessary or as requested. Performs inventory cycle counts based on established schedule. Manages defective material process with quality control personnel, users, vendors, and others to determine root cause of defect and take corrective action.
Additional Responsibilities:
Maintain accurate records and files; use an automated system to input and retrieve data. Focus on consistent improvements to the purchasing department process and work flow. Schedule and track deliveries, provide feedback to production and scheduling as necessary.
Job Qualifications:
Able to develop and maintain procedures relating to the purchasing functions Excellent telephone manner and fully computer literate. Required to operate and manage all transactions on a fully integrated material requirements planning (MRP) system. Able to prioritize workload and manage several projects at any time.
