Position Summary:
This Purchasing Summer Internship provides hands-on experience supporting purchasing activities across various commodities (metals, plastics, rubber, electronics, etc.). The intern will assist with purchase order management, supplier communication, invoice resolution, and cost?savings initiatives. This role is Auburn Hills, MI locally based and is designed for students pursuing a bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Business, or a related field .Key Responsibilities:
Support cost savings initiatives and maintain accurate tracking data. Prepare RFQs/RFPs, analyze supplier quotes, and assist in sourcing recommendations. Participate in purchasing activities with cross-functional teams. Create and update purchase orders and assist with blanket order maintenance. Monitor supplier performance and support resolution of shortages or delivery issues. Assist with invoice discrepancy resolution, pricing issues, and communication with finance. Support Purchase Price Variance (PPV) tracking and reporting. Help identify cost improvement opportunities for current programs. Maintain system accuracy, including pricing, lead times, and supplier information. Assist with supplier development or resourcing projects as needed. Support cost?reduction and VA/VE initiatives.Skill Requirements:
Strong communication skills for supplier and cross-functional interaction. High attention to detail and ability to manage multiple assignments. Basic analytical skills for comparing quotes and reviewing cost data. Problem?solving ability for day?to?day issues such as shortages or invoice questions. Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook); ERP exposure a plus. Self?motivated with willingness to learn and take ownership of assigned tasks. Ability to work in a fast?paced, deadline-driven environment. Team?oriented, proactive, and positive approach to tasks.Education Requirements:
Currently pursuing a bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, Operations, or a related field.Physical Requirements:
