Job Description

Job Summary Come join the Surrey family...where we are changing the way we age! The Surrey Consignment Shop is a critical part of Surrey's nonprofit mission. The Shop cultivates relationships with potential consignors, assisting them with options for downsizing and consigning their items, while educating the community about all that Surrey has to offer in terms of services and opportunities to support older adults in our communities. As the Consignment Shop continues to grow, it is necessary to ensure staff coverage. The Shop Assistant will be responsible for assisting the Director of the Consignment Shop with the day-to-day functioning of the shop, including the pricing of the inventory, volunteer staffing, consignor inventory and database management, social media coverage and interacting with volunteers, consignors and customers in the store. Responsibilities As one of the faces of Surrey, the Assistant will be available to communicate the Surrey mission and culture to staff, members, volunteers and customers. Primary responsibility for the pricing of incoming inventory prior to being displayed on the selling floor, including research of items using Google lens, eBay and other websites for pricing guidance. Managing the Shop in the absence of the Director. Assist the Shop Director in maintaining adequate volunteer staffing levels at all times, including help with volunteer recruitment, training and scheduling. Answer questions, assist members, consignors and customers in the shop; respond to telephone inquiries from potential and current consignors. Maintain and update the Shop's social media accounts such as Instagram and Facebook. Assist the Shop Director with special events such as sales and other Surrey events as needed. Qualifications Must be able to maintain a positive, cheerful yet professional countenance always. Must have excellent customer service skills, including the ability to remain composed in the face of challenges and unforeseen circumstances. Must have excellent written and oral communication skills, coupled with professional phone etiquette. Must have strong computer skills including use of Microsoft Office Suite. Proficiency in Word, Excel and Outlook required. Must be able to manage multiple priorities efficiently while maintaining high levels of accuracy. Previous retail and supervisory experience preferred. Previous responsibility for managing social media accounts preferred. Must be comfortable managing and working with volunteers.

$20.00 per hour
