Job Description

Position Summary The Assistant Purchaser supports GR Mitchell's Inventory Purchasing Manager in maintaining accurate, well-balanced inventory. The position monitors stock in Epicor BisTrack, performs and reconciles bin counts, verifies pricing and purchasing data, and maintains stocking parameters. This employee independently purchases assigned product categories within established guidelines, while the manager leads strategic supplier relationships. Additional duties to support warehouse/yard team, as well as our customers, will be assigned. Duties Include, But Are Not Limited To
  • Use Epicor BisTrack to monitor inventory, allocations, open purchase orders, lead times, and stock availability.
  • Complete regular cycle counts by category at company locations and reconcile physical quantities to BisTrack.
  • Prepare and place purchase orders for assigned categories with approved suppliers.
  • Track inventory levels between branches and storage warehouses and prepare transfers where appropriate.
  • Review suggested orders and investigate exceptions before recommending or placing orders.
  • Research inventory variances, document findings, and coordinate corrections.
  • Verify vendor costs, system pricing, units of measure, pack quantities, discounts, and freight terms.
  • Maintain minimum/maximum levels, reorder points, order quantities, lead times, and suggested-order settings.
  • Work with warehouse, yard, sales, and accounting teams to resolve inventory needs and invoice discrepancies.
  • Identify slow-moving, excess, obsolete, and frequently stocked-out items to support purchasing decisions.
  • Maintain organized purchasing records, vendor documents, notes, and an appropriate audit trail.
  • Handle routine vendor communication, escalating pricing, performance, and relationship concerns to the manager.
  • Additional duties as needed Requirements
  • 2+ years of purchasing, inventory control, receiving, supply chain, or related experience; building-materials or construction-supply experience preferred.
  • Strong computer proficiency; Epicor BisTrack or comparable ERP/inventory-system experience preferred, along with an advanced understanding of Microsoft Excel and Outlook.
  • Demonstrated accuracy with product data, costs, quantities, units of measure, and detailed transaction records.
  • Comfort working both at a computer and in warehouse/yard environments to complete physical counts and investigate inventory discrepancies.
  • Ability to analyze reports, recognize unusual inventory activity, solve routine problems, and know when to escalate an issue.
  • Strong organization, follow-through, and communication skills; able to manage recurring deadlines and multiple product categories.
Pay:
$23.00 - $27.00 per hour
