Job Summary Under the direction of the Purchasing Supervisor, the Purchasing Intern is responsible for processing purchase order requisitions, printing, faxing, and mailing purchase orders to suppliers as needed. Run and maintain various reports. Is responsible for the set-up, maintenance, and purchasing activities of assigned vendors. This position is to process all purchase order requisitions and return them to the requisitioner. This will be achieved while maintaining HellermannTyton's Quality and EHS certifications by supporting all corporate policies, procedures, work instructions, and required documentation.
Essential Functions:
Purchase and negotiate quality products at a cost-effective price. Process purchase order requisitions and oversee office and shipping supplies inventory. Run weekly Open Order and Acknowledgement reports and work with buyers towards On Time Delivery. Expedite PO's as necessary. Follow up on all pending and past-due purchase orders and update POs in the system. File appropriate paperwork. Enter PO data for the specified vendor list. Maintain vendor certification database. Assist in maintaining HellermannTyton's
QS9000/ISO14001
certification by supporting corporate policies, procedures, work instructions, and required documentation. Recommend improvements and implement upon approval. Other Functions Make recommendations toward continuous improvement. Run department reports. Other duties may be assigned. Key Competencies ERP System Microsoft Word Microsoft Excel Microsoft Outlook Phone/Fax System Qualifications (skills, knowledge, experience) Must be enrolled in a Supply Chain or equivalent associate's or bachelor's program High school diploma or equivalent required. Prior experience within a purchasing or buying department preferred. Computer literate in a Windows-based environment. Prior experience with an ERP system (JDE helpful). Alpha-Numeric filing. Good communication and telephone skills. Knowledge of basic purchasing concepts preferred. Must have a valid driver's license, with an acceptable driving record, along with adequate insurance.
