RESPONSIBILITIES

Coordinate and facilitate scheduling for new and returning patients to maximize provider productivity. Maintain accurate and up-to-date provider schedules to ensure timely patient care. Verify insurance, update patient records, and handle registration tasks. Professionally manage incoming calls, providing courteous and efficient assistance. Support the clinic team by maintaining confidentiality and contributing to a positive work environment.

KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE

High school diploma or GED required. Two to three years' experience in computerized patient accounts and/or as an administrative assistant preferred. Strong written and oral communication skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities. Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and other office software applications. Excellent keyboarding skills with high accuracy and speed. Professional appearance and demeanor with a commitment to patient-focused service. Ability to maintain accurate records and strict confidentiality.

Physical Requirements:

Physical demands may include sitting for prolonged periods, walking, stooping and occasional lifting.

ENVIRONMENT

The South Peninsula Hospital is a combined 22-bed Acute Care Critical Access Hospital and 28-bed Long Term Care facility located at the southern end of the Kenai Peninsula in South-Central Alaska. This position is based in the Homer Medical Center and involves working in a busy clinic setting with frequent patient and staff interaction. Work is primarily indoors, with moderate physical demands and occasional fluctuations in schedule based on patient needs.
