In this vital role, you will coordinate and manage surgical appointments, ensuring seamless communication between patients, surgeons, and medical staff. Your proactive approach will help optimize operating room schedules, verify insurance details, and facilitate efficient patient flow. This position offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to exceptional patient care while utilizing your strong administrative and medical knowledge skills. Responsibilities Schedule surgeries and procedures accurately within the electronic health record (EHR) systems such as Epic. Verify insurance coverage, perform insurance authorization requests, and ensure all necessary documentation is complete for surgical procedures. Review medical records and documentation to confirm patient eligibility and prepare pre-operative paperwork. Coordinate with physicians, anesthesiologists, nursing staff, and other healthcare professionals to confirm operative dates and specific requirements. Communicate effectively with patients regarding pre-surgical instructions, appointment details, and follow-up care plans. Maintain detailed records of scheduling activities, CPT (Current Procedural Terminology) coding, ICD (International Classification of Diseases) coding, and billing information in compliance with HIPAA regulations. Manage multi-line phone systems with professionalism, demonstrating excellent phone etiquette while handling inquiries from patients and staff. Support office management tasks such as filing medical records, updating patient information in EMR systems like Eaglesoft or Dentrix (if applicable), and ensuring accurate documentation review. Experience Prior experience in medical scheduling within a physician or hospital setting is preferred. Some knowledge of medical terminology, ICD-9/ICD-10 coding, CPT coding, and medical billing processes. Proficiency with EMR systems such as Epic, or similar platforms. Familiarity with health information management practices including HIPAA compliance and insurance verification procedures. Excellent computer skills including Google Drive and power share. Previous clinic or dental office experience involving front desk duties or medical administrative support is advantageous. Demonstrated customer service skills with a focus on patient service excellence in low key -paced environment. Experience working with multi-line phone systems and handling intake or appointment scheduling efficiently.
