Job Description

Position Summary The Fiscal Operations Coordinator is a key member of the Fiscal Department and supports financial operations through accurate recordkeeping, transaction processing, and administrative coordination. This position performs a variety of accounting, audit support, and operational duties requiring strong attention to detail, organization, and adherence to established policies and procedures. The ideal candidate will possess a foundational understanding of accounting principles, including fund accounting, and demonstrate professionalism, confidentiality, and the ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment. Work Schedule Monday - Thursday | 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM One (1) hour unpaid lunch break Essential Duties and Responsibilities Prepare and process deposits, including cash and checks, ensuring proper documentation and tracking Maintain accurate records of all deposits and financial transactions Perform daily financial entries for multiple enterprises Become familiar with Tribal accounts and financial structures to ensure accurate coding and entry preparation Apply fund accounting principles in recording and maintaining financial data Reconcile credit card accounts and assist with account balancing Create and process purchase orders in accordance with established policies Assist with procurement activities, including ordering supplies and materials Upload, organize, and maintain documents for the Fiscal Department and Business Committee Assist with audit preparation, including document gathering and audit support Manage vehicle registrations and related documentation (DMV processing) Utilize multiple accounting systems, including MIP, Microix, and Tableau Provide general administrative and operational support Perform additional duties and special projects as assigned Minimum Qualifications Associate's degree or higher in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field preferred, or equivalent work experience Experience in accounting, bookkeeping, or audit preparation required Knowledge of or willingness to learn fund accounting Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel required Experience with or ability to learn MIP, Microix, and Tableau Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines High level of accuracy and attention to detail Ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive financial information Strong communication and interpersonal skills Ability to work independently and collaboratively Willingness to learn, adapt, and take on additional responsibilities Preferred Characteristics Dependable, adaptable, and team-oriented Professional demeanor with a positive attitude Strong work ethic and commitment to growth and development Additional Requirements Employment is contingent upon successful completion of a pre-employment process, which will include a hair follicle drug test and urinalysis screening , in accordance with organizational policy Benefits & Additional Information Eligibility for health insurance (including medical, dental, and vision) following successful completion of a three (3) month probationary period Eligibility to participate in the organization's 401(k) retirement plan after one (1) year of employment , in accordance with plan provisions This position supports the organization's financial integrity and operational efficiency and offers the opportunity to gain valuable experience in governmental and fund accounting practices If you're interested in this position, please submit your resume's to mikala@fortindependence.com.
