As a Doctor's Assistant / Surgery Scheduler , you will work closely with physicians, staff, and patients to ensure a seamless, compassionate, and efficient care experience. What You'll Do Accurately and efficiently complete assigned tasks, including: Triaging incoming patient calls Managing task logs Scheduling appointments, surgical procedures, pre-operative testing, physical therapy, and imaging services Processing medication refill requests Performing additional administrative duties as assigned Coordinate all aspects of surgery scheduling, including: Pre-operative testing Medical and cardiac clearances Patient education Equipment arrangements Post-operative care planning Collaborate with the insurance department to ensure all required authorizations are obtained prior to surgery. Arrange transportation and interpreter services when appropriate to support patient needs. Facilitate coordination of care with referring physicians, ambulatory surgery centers (ASCs), hospitals, pharmacies, laboratories, physical therapy providers, skilled nursing facilities, home health agencies, imaging centers, and medical supply vendors. Review and route diagnostic test results, medication requests, and other critical patient information to physicians promptly and accurately using the PAQ system. Escalate urgent results requiring immediate attention according to established protocols. Process prescription refill requests by communicating with pharmacies, verifying medication names, dosages, and directions for use (SIG), and obtaining authorization when required. Communicate effectively with front office staff regarding medication requests, prescription pickups, and other patient care needs. Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent required. Minimum of one year of surgery scheduling experience preferred. Experience with electronic health record (EHR) systems; NextGen experience preferred. Strong organizational, communication, and multitasking skills.
