Precision Healthcare Specialists is seeking a highly organized, customer-focused, and detail-oriented Patient Service Representative (PSR) / Surgical Scheduler to join our Surgical Services team. This dual-role position is responsible for providing exceptional front-office support while coordinating surgical procedures and ensuring a seamless experience for patients, physicians, and healthcare partners. The ideal candidate will excel in a fast-paced environment, possess strong communication and scheduling skills, and demonstrate the ability to manage multiple priorities while delivering outstanding patient care and service. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Patient Service Representative Responsibilities Welcome patients, visitors, and vendors in a professional and friendly manner. Check patients in and out for appointments and procedures. Schedule, reschedule, and confirm office visits. Verify patient demographics, insurance coverage, referrals, and authorizations. Collect copays, deductibles, and outstanding balances. Answer and direct incoming phone calls while providing excellent customer service. Maintain accurate patient records within the electronic medical record (EMR) system. Assist patients with registration forms and appointment-related inquiries. Coordinate with clinical staff to ensure efficient patient flow. Adhere to HIPAA regulations and maintain patient confidentiality. Surgical Scheduler Responsibilities Schedule surgical procedures with physicians, hospitals, ambulatory surgery centers, and other healthcare facilities. Coordinate surgery dates, times, and locations with patients and providers. Obtain and track insurance authorizations and pre-certifications for procedures. Schedule pre-operative testing, laboratory work, imaging, and medical clearances. Communicate surgical instructions, preparation requirements, and procedure details to patients. Prepare and maintain surgical scheduling documentation and records. Coordinate post-operative appointments and follow-up care. Collaborate with physicians, clinical staff, hospital personnel, and insurance carriers to ensure timely and accurate scheduling. Manage schedule changes, cancellations, and urgent surgical requests. Ensure all required documentation is completed prior to surgery.
Requirements:
High school diploma or equivalent. Minimum of two (2) years of healthcare administrative or medical office experience. Strong customer service and patient communication skills. Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail. Ability to multitask and manage competing priorities. Proficiency with Microsoft Office and electronic medical record (EMR) systems. Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced healthcare environment. Preferred Qualifications Previous surgical scheduling experience. Experience obtaining insurance authorizations and referrals. Knowledge of medical terminology and surgical procedures. Experience working in a specialty or surgical practice. Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred. Physical Requirements Ability to sit, stand, and walk throughout the workday. Frequent use of computers, telephones, and office equipment. Ability to occasionally lift up to 20 pounds.
