The position allows for graduate students in the health professions to heighten their knowledge and skill set regarding business planning, facility maintenance, and daily procedures that promote holistic well-being and health education to students, faculty and staff of various ages, lifestyles, and academic programs and departments. Building and maintaining relationships through daily communications and hands-on support is beneficial for professional development.
Communication:
The position will communicate clearly, effectively, and professionally with students, faculty, staff and guests in the Fitness Center and the wider Ruskin campus, both in person and through the various communication media used in the position.
Critical Thinking:
The position will critically evaluate situations, make decisions, and react quickly to conflicts in scheduling and availability to maintain operations.
Professionalism:
The position will maintain a professional demeanor when interacting with facility patrons and coworkers, and will demonstrate effective work habits, including becoming knowledgeable on the facility and diplomatically enforcing policies and procedures.
Leadership:
The position will be recognized as a leader on campus and will seek to support and promote the University's Mission and GU+ standards. The position will lead their fellow fitness attendants utilizing clear communication through various channels in regard to employee expectations and behaviors as well as university policies and procedures.

Position Summary The Fitness Center Scheduler has the chief responsibility of identifying, maintaining, and ensuring staff availability during weekly center and campus operational hours throughout the semester. The Scheduler also manages updates in course schedules, fitness attendant call-offs, and usage of the Fitness Center by academic programs and departments alike. The Scheduler needs to be knowledgeable on the facility and communicate effectively to patrons and coworkers, enforcing the policies and procedures of the facility, and carrying out any additional tasks that may be assigned, with a professional attitude. The Scheduler oversees all communications and various pieces of software in the fitness center and is responsible for sending communications to all colleagues and Ruskin leadership. The Scheduler works closely with the Operations Director to review opportunities and areas of improvement. They must have the capacity to critically evaluate situations, make decisions, and react quickly to conflicts in schedules to ensure guest satisfaction and safety. Scheduler may be included in other tasks around campus as needed. Required Qualifications Enrolled full-time student at Gannon University. Remain in good academic standing. Must be
CPR / AED
certified. Experience must include use of Microsoft Word, Excel, and use of standard office equipment such as copy machine, printer, and telephone. Leadership skills, including strong verbal and written communication skills, working in a team atmosphere, and professionalism. Individual must be able to work with a diverse population that would include students, faculty, staff, alumni and community members. Must be able to work independently without direct supervision on day-to-day tasks and be able to take initiative. Must be able to support and promote the University's Mission. Preferred Qualifications First Aid certified. Previous customer service, sports, or fitness experience preferred. Physical Demands Ability to lift and carry weight, possibly up to 50lbs unassisted. Ability to walk, stand, and move about for approximately 2-8 hours; without access to a chair. Ability to stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. Ability to climb (stairs/ladders) or balance. Ability to walk around building and potentially across campus. Repetitive movement of hands, arms and legs, such as sweeping, vacuuming, and mopping.
