The Dock Master is responsible for coordinating and overseeing daily dock operations to ensure the safe, efficient, and cost-effective movement of freight through the Office Campus. This role coordinates dock activities, staffing, planning, schedules, equipment utilization, and operational priorities while ensuring compliance with company policies, procedures, safety requirements, and applicable regulations. The Dock Master is accountable for meeting assigned operational KPIs, maintaining a safe, tidy, and productive dock environment, supporting employee training and development, and ensuring accurate and timely completion of dock documentation and customer communications. The position requires strong planning, communication, problem-solving, organizational, and time-management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively in a high-volume, fast-paced environment.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
None Key Duties and Responsibilities Coordinate daily dock operations to support safe, efficient, and cost-effective freight movements. Assist with dock setup, staffing coordination, work schedules, and operational priorities. Monitor dock activity and adjust schedules as needed to support productivity and service requirements. Maintain a clean, organized, and safe LTL dock operation in compliance with Company policies, procedures, safety rules, and applicable regulations. Support assigned Service Center Business Plan objectives and operational KPIs. Utilize Company technology, systems, tools, and processes to support productivity and operational performance. Coordinate the assignment and movement of trailers, tractors, and other equipment with supervisors and management. Maintain timely and accurate customer communications and dock-related documentation. Monitor dock operations and identify opportunities to improve productivity, service, safety, and cost performance. Work collaboratively with Service Center management and other departments to resolve operational issues and maintain an efficient flow of freight and equipment. Support dock operations during periods of high volume, changing priorities, staffing challenges, and other operational demands. Maintain regular attendance and punctuality and perform other duties as assigned.
Required Experience/Skills:
Education/Work Experience/Certificates High school diploma or GED required. 2-3 years of relevant experience in transportation, logistics, LTL freight, warehouse, distribution, or dock operations preferred. Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, particularly Outlook, Excel, and Word, and the ability to learn transportation, warehouse, and operational management systems. 1 Year Forklift Experience Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record, if driving is required as part of the position. Physical Requirements:
Ability to stand and walk for extended periods while monitoring dock operations. Ability to move throughout the dock, warehouse, and service center , including navigating around freight, trailers, and equipment. Ability to bend, stoop, reach, climb stairs, and maneuver in an active dock environment as needed. Ability to lift, carry, push, or pull light-to-moderate materials or equipment as required during dock operations. Ability to work in a physically demanding, high-volume environment with exposure to varying temperatures, noise, and moving vehicles/equipment.
