Job Description

Summary:
Schedules outpatients for Rehabilitation Services (PT, OT, SLP, Audiology) and Schwab Physician Clinic. Answers and screens incoming phone calls in a professional manner. Warmly welcome and introduces yourself to customers. Displays hospital standards for telephone behaviors Schedules patients for initial evaluations, physician visits and ongoing therapy as indicated by ordering physician and therapist recommendations in a timely manner. Works with patient/family/caregivers to assign appropriate therapy times. Schedules patients for Schwab Rehabilitation Hospital transportation. Coordinates and communicates patient schedules with transport companies. Inform transport companies of schedules and any changes; discuss scheduling problems or issues with drivers and collaborate to resolve them. Follows up and executes requests for rescheduling and corrections on scheduled appointment errors. Communicates results with appropriate personnel. Maintains accurate outpatient schedules in Meditech scheduling module. Maintain communication with therapists of new patients and schedule additions/changes/issues. Collaborates with inpatient case managers, inpatient rehab therapists and acute care therapists to provide inpatients/acute patients with schedules prior to discharge.
WHAT YOU WILL NEED
High School diploma or equivalent required. Medical Terminology and some minimal college coursework preferred
MINIMUM WORK EXPERIENCE
Previous experience in healthcare reception, scheduling, insurance authorization or office management preferred
KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS
Bilingual in Spanish required. Basic proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel. Intermediate proficiency with Outlook. Preference to those with prior experience using scheduling software.
