POSITION SUMMARY
Associate Principal for Operations
DEFINITION
The Associate Principal for Operations supports the Principal in overseeing the school's operational systems, student support services, compliance functions, and schoolwide logistical programs. This role focuses on ensuring efficient implementation of operational procedures, compliance with district and state requirements, supervision of assigned personnel, and coordination of programs that support student success and school operations. The Associate Principal collaborates with school leaders, department supervisors, staff, students, and families to maintain a safe, efficient, and student-centered learning environment while providing the Principal with operational oversight and leadership.
MAJOR POLICY RESPONSIBILITY
The Associate Principal for Operations is responsible for the implementation of all Board of Education policies and administrative procedures as they relate to assigned operational functions. The Associate Principal may make recommendations for policy revisions, deletions, or additions to the Principal.
KEY FUNCTIONS
A. Student Enrollment, Registration, and Residency Authority/Responsibility - Supervise and evaluate programs and personnel involved in student registration, enrollment, and residency verification.
Representative Activities:
Oversees annual student registration and enrollment processes. Coordinates incoming student registration and enrollment activities. Supervises residency verification procedures and compliance requirements. Ensures accurate student demographic and enrollment records. Collaborates with feeder districts and district personnel regarding enrollment matters. Coordinates student withdrawal and transfer procedures. Maintains compliance with applicable state and district enrollment requirements. Supervises staff assigned to registration and residency functions. Addresses enrollment and residency concerns from students, parents, and community members. Monitors and evaluates registration and residency processes for continuous improvement. B. Student Attendance Authority/Responsibility - Supervise attendance systems and interventions to promote student engagement and compliance with compulsory attendance requirements.
Representative Activities:
Oversees school attendance monitoring procedures. Supervises attendance-related personnel and support systems. Analyzes attendance data and trends to identify concerns and opportunities for intervention. Coordinates attendance improvement initiatives and programs. Collaborates with families, counselors, deans, and support staff regarding attendance concerns. Ensures compliance with state attendance reporting requirements. Develops and implements attendance-related procedures and communications. Provides attendance reports and recommendations to the Principal. C. Assessment and Academic Support Programs Authority/Responsibility - Coordinate schoolwide assessment administration and student academic support initiatives.
Representative Activities:
Coordinates administration of PSAT, ACT, NWEA, and other assigned assessments. Develops testing schedules and operational plans. Ensures compliance with state and testing vendor requirements. Coordinates testing accommodations and support services in collaboration with appropriate personnel. Supervises after-school testing programs and testing center operations. Oversees after-school test preparation programs. Analyzes assessment participation and operational outcomes. Provides logistical support and oversight for schoolwide testing initiatives. D. Operations and Auxiliary Services Authority/Responsibility - Supervise operational programs and support services that contribute to an effective school environment.
Representative Activities:
Supervises and evaluates Lunchroom Supervisors. Supervises Campus Store operations and related personnel. Collaborates with district departments regarding operational efficiency and student services. Ensures operational compliance with district procedures and applicable regulations. Addresses operational concerns impacting students, staff, and visitors. Monitors service delivery and recommends improvements as needed. E. Facilities, Maintenance, Transportation, Special Projects Authority/Responsibility - Coordinate and monitor facility operations and transportation services. Supervise and monitor operational initiatives and projects as assigned by the Principal.
Representative Activities:
Collaborates with district leadership regarding facility needs and maintenance priorities. Monitors facility readiness for daily operations and school events. Coordinates transportation services and related student transportation concerns. Assists with planning and logistics for schoolwide activities and events. Supports implementation of facility improvement projects. Ensures operational readiness and responsiveness to school needs. Leads operational improvement initiatives aligned to district and school goals. Coordinates special projects related to student services, operations, and compliance. Assists with implementation of strategic school initiatives. Represents the school on district committees and work groups as assigned. Prepares reports, recommendations, and presentations for school leadership. Manages and supervises other operational initiatives and special projects as assigned by the Principal. F. Safety and Emergency Preparedness Authority/Responsibility - Coordinate school safety programs and emergency preparedness initiatives.
Representative Activities:
Plans, coordinates, and evaluates school safety drills. Coordinates required safety training programs for staff. Collaborates with school and district personnel regarding emergency preparedness. Maintains required documentation related to drills, training, and compliance. Serves on and facilitates assigned School Leadership Team (SLT) subcommittees. Supports implementation of school safety plans and procedures. Assists in evaluating and improving school safety practices. Coordinates communication and follow-up related to safety initiatives. G. Staff Supervision and Evaluation Authority/Responsibility - Supervise and evaluate assigned personnel and support continuous improvement efforts.
Representative Activities:
Supervises and evaluates Deans' Assistants. Supervises and evaluates assigned teachers and staff members. Conducts observations and provides constructive feedback. Supports employee growth through coaching and professional development. Monitors performance expectations and compliance with district procedures. Assists in addressing personnel concerns and operational issues. Collaborates with administrators to ensure effective staffing and program implementation. Maintains required evaluation documentation and timelines. Performs other duties as assigned.

REQUIREMENTS
Current Illinois Professional Educator License with Administrative Endorsement. 5 years of teaching experience is preferred. Previous experience in a leadership position is preferred.
