Driver, Care-A-Van Service, PRN, Days Job Summary:
The dual Scheduler & Driver role supports the Transportation Department by performing both clerical and transport duties. This position is responsible for coordinating Care-A-Van appointments, supporting EMS leadership with administrative tasks, and safely transporting patients to and from medical facilities. The role requires flexibility, strong organizational skills, professionalism, and a commitment to excellent patient service.
Scheduler Duties:
Schedule and confirm Care-A-Van appointments and patient transportation requests. Pre-register patients and verify transport eligibility. Answer phones, take messages, and route inquiries as appropriate. Greet and assist patients, staff, and visitors courteously. Prepare and type reports, correspondence, meeting minutes, and educational materials. Maintain data charts, reports, and scheduling documentation. Coordinate departmental meetings and assist with event logistics. Support EMS leadership with day-to-day administrative functions.
Driver Duties:
Safely transport patients between HMH and affiliated medical facilities. Assist patients during loading/unloading and ensure a safe ride. Conduct daily vehicle inspections and maintain vehicle cleanliness. Maintain accurate logs, manifests, and fuel levels. Respond to transport phone calls and adjust schedules as needed. Comply with all safety, confidentiality, and infection control protocols.
Minimum Qualifications Education:
High School Diploma or equivalent Required Licensure/Certifications (Post Hire): BLS Certification Driver's Training Intellectual and Developmental Disability Awareness Training HIPAA Training Valid Kentucky Driver's License with a clean driving record
Required Skills and Abilities:
Strong communication, interpersonal, and customer service skills Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Publisher) Ability to multitask in a fast-paced, high-demand environment Professional demeanor and confidentiality Familiarity with medical terminology Ability to operate GPS/routing systems (preferred) Physical/Functional Requirements Frequent lifting (up to 49 lbs), pushing/pulling, reaching, and grasping Sitting and repetitive motions required frequently Must be able to assist patients in and out of vehicles Ability to work flexible shifts, including weekends and on-call as needed Organizational Standards Demonstrates HMH core values: Integrity, Excellence, Teamwork, Accountability, and Compassion Maintains compliance with confidentiality, safety, and infection control standards Supports quality improvement and patient satisfaction initiatives
