Overview The qualified candidate is responsible for providing high quality daily animal care and husbandry to laboratory animals in accordance with applicable regulations and vivarium operating procedures. Responsibilities include routine animal monitoring, sanitation, recordkeeping, and support of vivarium operations to ensure animal health, welfare, and program compliance. This position requires weekend and holiday work hours. This position is onsite and will be primarily located in Cambridge, MA. Key Responsibilities Provide high quality daily animal care and husbandry, including feeding, watering, and cleaning and sanitizing animal enclosures
Monitor animals routinely for signs of illness, distress, or abnormal behavior and promptly report concerns to veterinary or supervisory staff
Maintain accurate animal and facility records in accordance with established procedures with minimal supervision
Place animal and supply orders and assist with inventory management to ensure adequate materials and resources
Support facility operations by assisting with cage wash, sanitation, and related vivarium activities as needed
Follow all SOPs, safety requirements, and applicable regulatory guidelines
Work collaboratively as part of the vivarium operations team
Perform other duties as assigned by manager Qualifications High school diploma or GED required, associate or bachelor's degree in a related field preferred
2-3+ years of laboratory animal husbandry or vivarium experience required
Demonstrated ability to recognize and report abnormal animal behavior or clinical signs
Experience maintaining accurate records and following SOPs
Familiarity with vivarium operations, sanitation practices, and cage wash processes
Basic computer proficiency, including Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel
Knowledge of and adherence to applicable animal welfare regulations and guidelines
Assistant Laboratory Animal Technician (ALAT) certification required; Laboratory Animal Technician (LAT) certification preferred or required within a defined period after hire
Effective written and verbal communication skills
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. and perform physically demanding work, including prolonged standing and repetitive tasks
Strong teamwork, organizational skills, and personal accountability
Availability and willingness to work weekends and holidays on a rotating schedule U.S. Pay Range $62,900.00 - $85,100.00 The pay range reflects the full-time base salary range we expect to pay for this role at the time of posting. Base pay will be determined based on a number of factors including, but not limited to, relevant experience, skills, and education. This role is eligible for an annual short-term incentive award (e.g., bonus or sales incentive) and an annual long-term incentive award (e.g., equity).
