Job Description

Scheduler - Surgical Holy Cross Medical Center Taos Professional Services Taos, NM Administrative Support Per Diem, Days
POSITION PURPOSE
The Surgery Scheduler position schedules all surgical procedures and assures that all the appropriate clinical and insurance coding information is collected for the surgery schedule. The position receives requests to schedule procedures from the physician and schedules the procedure according to established guidelines. The position provides accurate information so that all departments may view daily schedules, and maintains open communication with hospital departments and physicians regarding schedule changes.
MINIMUM MANDATORY QUALIFICATIONS
EXPERIENCE:
No previous experience required.
EDUCATION
High school diploma or High School Equivalency Test (HSE) required.
MANDATORY KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES AND OTHER QUALIFICATIONS
Possess a strong professional, personable and motivational personality that builds strong relationships with patients. Applications include Microsoft Office Suite products and familiarity with electronic health record systems. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with practice leadership, physicians, advanced practitioners, colleagues and other Holy Cross Medical Center (HCMC) and Taos Professional Services (TPS) team members.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
One (1) year working experience in medical terminology or coding. One (1) year working experience in the medical field, including patient registration experience in a healthcare setting. Bilingual In English and Spanish.
