Adoption Coordinator

Job Overview Kent Animal Shelter is a small, non-profit, no-kill animal shelter located in Calverton, NY. For over 55 years, we have been committed to rescuing, caring for, and rehoming animals in need. We are looking for a compassionate and motivated Adoption Coordinator to help match our animals with loving forever homes. The Adoption Coordinator is responsible for guiding potential adopters through the adoption process, ensuring the best possible match for both animals and families. This role involves direct interaction with the public, administrative work, and working closely with shelter staff. Duties Respond to adoption inquiries via phone, email, and in person Review and process adoption applications Match adopters with animals based on their lifestyle and the animal's needs Schedule and conduct adoption meet-and-greets Maintain accurate adoption records and follow-up documentation Provide post-adoption support and education to new pet owners Assist with social media and outreach efforts to promote adoptions Participate in off-site adoption and community events Skills Passion for animal welfare and the no-kill shelter philosophy Strong communication and interpersonal skills Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail Comfortable using email, spreadsheets, and basic shelter management software Ability to work weekends and occasional holidays Prior experience in animal care, customer service, or administrative work is a plus
