We are looking for a compassionate and organized Surgical Scheduler to join our growing surgical team. In this role, you'll play a key part in guiding patients through every step of their surgical experience — from education and scheduling to financing and post-operative communication. Key responsibilities include:
Communicate with patients regarding pre-operative and post-operative care and scheduling Educate patients on surgical procedures, lens options, and treatment plans Explain financing options and assist patients with applications such as CareCredit when needed Coordinate and schedule surgical procedures accurately and efficiently Review surgical instructions, paperwork, and consent forms with patients Collect applicable patient payments and ensure documentation is completed properly Prepare and organize surgical charts and required paperwork for surgery centers and hospitals Scan and maintain accurate patient records and surgical documentation Perform preliminary testing and assist in counseling patients regarding lens options Deliver a compassionate, professional, and reassuring patient experience What Makes You a Great Fit Strong communication and customer service skills Ability to explain information clearly and compassionately Highly organized with strong attention to detail Comfortable working in a fast-paced medical environment Ability to multitask and manage patient scheduling efficiently Prior medical office, surgical scheduling, or ophthalmology experience preferred but not required What Success Looks Like in This Role We're looking for someone who: Creates a positive and supportive experience for every patient Communicates professionally and confidently with patients and clinical teams Maintains accuracy and organization with scheduling and documentation Demonstrates empathy and patience when discussing procedures and financial options Takes initiative and works collaboratively with physicians, surgery centers, and team members Physical Requirements & Work Environment This is primarily a sedentary role involving extended periods of sitting, phone communication, computer work, and detailed documentation review. Strong visual attention to detail and clear verbal communication are essential to success in this position.
