Job Description

The Copper Country Junior Hockey Association (CCJHA) is looking for an organized, dependable independent contractor- Hockey Operations Scheduler -to help keep youth hockey moving smoothly for players ages 5-19. This remote role manages the scheduling details behind CCJHA teams, practices, games, and referees. You coordinate with the Board, coaches, referees, and local ice rinks, including the Houghton County Ice Arena, Dee Stadium, and Michigan Technological University Ice Arena. Scope of Work. Schedule CCJHA teams, practices, games, and referees. Communicate schedule details and updates with coaches, referees, the Board, and ice rink contacts. Use Crossbar scheduling software to build and maintain schedules. Coordination with and access to the software is provided, so hockey-scheduling experience is helpful, but not required. Be available to attend monthly in-person Board meetings in Hancock, Michigan on the second Wednesday of each month, plus special meetings as needed for scheduling coordination. Help make the season run smoothly for players, families, coaches, and officials. This role is busiest from September through March, when hockey season is in full swing. April through August is slower, with a lighter time commitment. Annually, you're likely looking at 400-600 hours of time needed. What You Bring. Strong organization and follow-through. Clear, timely communication. Comfort using scheduling software, shared calendars, email, and online tools. Ability to manage changing details without getting rattled. Availability for heavier scheduling work September through March. Ability to attend required in-person Board meetings in Hancock, Michigan. Compensation. Contractor compensation is $20-$25 per hour for approved services performed. The contractor submits invoices according to the contractor agreement. This is a 1099 independent contractor opportunity, not an employee position. No taxes are withheld, and this role does not include employee benefits. The selected contractor must complete a background screening and register with USA Hockey. Why This Role Matters. When the schedule works, the season works. This role helps create a smooth, organized hockey experience for CCJHA players, coaches, families, referees, and rinks—and keeps everyone where they need to be when the puck drops. Interested?
