Job Description

Job Overview Gastroenterology Consultants of Southwest Virginia is a busy, well-established practice dedicated to providing exceptional digestive healthcare to our community. We are seeking a dependable, detail-oriented Full-Time Procedure Scheduler to join our patient-focused team. The Procedure Scheduler plays a critical role in ensuring patients receive timely and well-coordinated care. The ideal candidate will excel in communication, organization, and problem-solving, while thriving in a fast-paced clinical environment. Prior experience in a hospital, medical office, or dental office is strongly preferred. Duties Accurately schedule and coordinate patient procedure appointments across multiple systems. Clearly communicate procedure preparation instructions to patients to ensure compliance and readiness. Enter, update, and maintain patient demographics and appointments within the electronic medical record (EMR). Confirm, reschedule, and manage patient appointments while minimizing scheduling conflicts and delays. Collaborate closely with physicians, clinical staff, and facilities to optimize schedules and patient flow. Professionally manage incoming calls, providing courteous and efficient service to patients and providers. Identify and escalate scheduling issues proactively to avoid delays in care. Foster a positive, team-oriented environment by maintaining professional communication with patients, coworkers, and providers. Skills Previous experience in a medical office or scheduling role preferred. Strong organizational and multitasking abilities with high attention to detail. Excellent verbal communication and phone etiquette to ensure a positive patient experience. Ability to work independently while contributing to a team-oriented environment. Familiarity with EMR systems and medical scheduling processes preferred. Commitment to patient confidentiality and professionalism at all times. Why Join Us?
