Job Description
The Williamsburg House of Mercy is seeking an Operations and Programs Coordinator. The Operations & Programs Coordinator reports to the Operations Director and plays a key role in ensuring the smooth daily functioning of WHOM. This role focuses primarily on warehouse management, logistics, inventory control, and facility operations, while providing limited support for program activities as needed. The Coordinator works closely with staff, volunteers, and community partners to maintain efficient operations, identify gaps, improve processes, and support strategic initiatives, enabling WHOM to deliver services effectively and reliably to the community. Flexibility to support events and distributions outside regular business hours is required. Key Responsibilities Operations & Logistics Oversee daily operations at the McLaws Circle Warehouse and 10 Harrison Avenue Manage inventory, including receiving, staging, and transporting food and resources between locations. Maintain operational checklists and ensure facilities and equipment are organized and safe. Operate agency vehicles for pickups, deliveries, and supply transport (CDL preferred with clean driving record). Assist with setup and breakdown for distributions, events, and operational activities. Supervise warehouse volunteers and provide orientation and guidance to ensure safety and efficiency. Program Support Provide operational support for food distributions, resource drives, or community events when needed. Assist with the filling and coordination of the "Give or Collect" outdoor food locker program. Collaborate with staff to identify operational efficiencies that enhance program delivery. Front-Facing & Community Engagement Skills Represent WHOM professionally during distributions, events, and operational activities. Communicate clearly and respectfully with clients, volunteers, and community partners. Provide guidance and support to volunteers and staff as needed. Maintain professionalism, empathy, and positive interpersonal relationships. Additional Responsibilities Occasional evening and weekend hours may be required to attend and support organizational events throughout the year. Perform other duties as assigned. Physical Requirements & Qualifications Physical stamina: Ability to move wheeled bins (400+ lbs) and lift food boxes (40+ lbs) regularly Comfortable standing, walking, bending, kneeling, crouching, and climbing stairs as needed. Valid driver's license; CDL is preferred with a clean driving record. Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities and timelines. Proactive problem-solving mindset with a hands-on approach. Ability to maintain professional boundaries and discretion with clients, volunteers, and community members.
