Job Description

Overview Chippewa Valley Eye Clinic has an opening to join our dynamic healthcare team as a Surgery Scheduler, where your organizational skills and attention to detail will play a vital role in coordinating surgical procedures and ensuring seamless patient care. In this role, you will serve as the central point of contact for scheduling surgeries, managing patient information, and collaborating with medical and surgical staff to deliver efficient and compassionate service. Responsibilities Coordinate and schedule surgical procedures in accordance with physician orders and patient needs, ensuring all necessary documentation is complete and accurate. Verify insurance coverage, perform insurance authorization, and handle pre-operative clearance processes using systems like Modernizing Medicine. Review medical records, documentation, and clinical notes to ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations and accurate CPT coding for billing purposes. Communicate effectively with patients via phone and in person to confirm appointments, provide instructions, and answer inquiries with professional phone etiquette. Maintain detailed records of scheduled surgeries, update electronic health record and ensure all documentation aligns with medical billing standards including
ICD-10/ICD-9
codes. Collaborate with medical staff to coordinate care plans, review documentation for completeness, and facilitate smooth workflow between department Skills Strong knowledge of medical terminology, CPT coding, ICD coding (ICD-10/ICD-9), and insurance verification processes. Experience working with EMR systems Excellent organizational skills with the ability to review medical documentation accurately and manage multiple schedules efficiently. Proven customer service skills combined with professional phone etiquette and compassionate communication style. Proficient computer skills Previous experience in a medical office setting—clinic experience or hospital environment—will be advantageous for understanding clinical workflows. Knowledge of HIPAA regulations to ensure patient confidentiality at all times; familiarity with Medicare guidelines is beneficial.
Pay:
From $17.00 per hour
