Job Description

JOB SUMMARY
To receive incoming common carrier truck shipments, other than raw materials and to prepare products to be shipped by truck.
SUPERVISOR RESPONSIBILITIES
None
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
1) Receive, open, identify, inspect, and count or weigh incoming materials and items. 2) Check paperwork for incoming material. Update inventory records as needed. 3) Load and unload trucks using a forklift or pallet jack. Put away incoming material in proper locations. Deliver materials to departments. 4) Assemble orders for shipment. Count and verify that order is complete.
REQUIRED SKILLS/ABILITIES
1) To be able to work overtime on a weekend and/or daily basis. 2) To be able to safely drive a forklift. 3) To be able and willing to use a computer. 4) Understand English well enough to read reports, bills, schedules, etc., so that forms and shipping paperwork is completed. Be able to count. Be able to communicate in English. 5) Adequate vision to detect defect. Normal color perception. 6) Work at a pace sufficient to meet "just in time" requirements. 7) Other duties as assigned by Supervisor.
EDUCATION
High school diploma or equivalent required.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
1) Stand most of the day. 2) Lift, move, and stack boxes. This requires bending and reaching. Boxes typically weigh up to 25 lbs. Work can be repetitive. 3) Some assignments may require heavy lifting, such as putting away paint. 4) Work in a hot environment consistent with summer weather.
