1st Shift (8:00AM - 4:30PM Monday - Friday) Job Description The Shipping Associate I processes and prepares products for shipment to customers and suppliers, ensuring that all items are packaged correctly and all documentation meets customer and regulatory requirements. This role selects appropriate packaging materials based on customer shipping requirements and methodology, reviews job travelers, material certifications, and shipping documents for completeness and accuracy, and proactively communicates any issues that may impact on-time delivery. Responsibilities Review orders prior to shipping for any special instructions related to product labeling, certificates of conformance, or special packaging requirements. Process and prepare products for shipment, including selecting appropriate containers, labels, and boxes to ensure items are packaged securely and protected from damage during transit. Regularly review the daily shipping queue throughout the day to ensure timely processing of all customer shipments. Shrink wrap, strap, label, and prepare pallets for carrier pickup in accordance with shipping standards. Identify orders that may be at risk of not shipping on time and communicate proactively to the appropriate supervisor. Advise second shift supervisors of any expected pending carrier pickups to support smooth handoffs between shifts. Notify the immediate supervisor of any at-risk orders or issues that could impact shipping schedules. Deliver urgent shipments that miss carrier pickup deadlines to local shipping hubs when needed. Review job travelers, material certifications, and shipping documents to ensure completeness, accuracy, and conformance with all requirements. Use shipping systems and tools to process shipments with carriers such as UPS and FedEx. Assist others within the department as necessary to meet overall shipping and receiving objectives. Perform other tasks as assigned by the immediate supervisor to support departmental operations. Essential Skills Hands-on experience with shipping and receiving operations in a manufacturing or similar environment. Knowledge of domestic and international shipping processes and requirements. Ability to work with major carriers such as UPS and FedEx and use their shipping systems. Ability to safely operate material handling equipment such as forklifts, where required by the role and facility. Strong verbal and written communication skills to interpret instructions and document shipping activities. Ability to package sensitive parts in a safe and secure manner to prevent damage in transit. Strong attention to detail and organizational skills to manage multiple orders and documentation. Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, time-sensitive, high-volume shipping environment. Proven multitasking skills and a collaborative, team-oriented attitude. Strong time management and clerical skills to prioritize tasks and maintain accurate records. Ability to compare, compute, compile, and analyze documentation and requirements for shipping accuracy and compliance. Demonstrated desire for continuous improvement and personal growth in shipping and logistics processes. Basic computer skills to navigate shipping software, documentation systems, and internal tools. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience in a manufacturing setting handling specialty components or technical products. Familiarity with certificates of conformance, material certifications, and quality-related documentation. Comfort working with engineered or custom integrated solutions for high reliability and severe environment applications. Ability to learn and adapt to evolving shipping methodologies and customer requirements. Willingness to assist across departments to support broader operational goals. Why Work Here? The environment is fast-paced and time-sensitive, with a focus on accuracy, organization, and safe handling of sensitive parts. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Poway, CA. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $21.50 - $24.50/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
