Job Description

Job Title:
Shipping Clerk / Assistant Scheduler Job Description This Shipping Clerk / Assistant Scheduler role supports a busy warehouse operation by coordinating outbound shipments and assisting with multi-line, multi-facility scheduling. You will help manage daily schedules, inbound and outbound deliveries, and ensure the timely and accurate movement of goods. The position is ideal for a motivated, detail-oriented individual who enjoys working in a fast-paced environment, communicates clearly, and collaborates closely with production, purchasing, and logistics teams to maintain efficient operations. Responsibilities Coordinate outbound shipments to ensure the timely and accurate movement of goods. Assist in creating and maintaining multi-line and multi-facility production and shipping schedules. Support scheduling needs by understanding facility requirements and adjusting plans as necessary. Prepare and maintain shipping documentation and related paperwork. Create and update work orders to reflect current production and shipping needs. Print labels and match them to schedules for outbound shipments and production requirements. Print labels for all inbound deliveries and any additional production needs as requested. Update the production schedule with work order completions to reflect accurate status. Update and maintain production logs, databases, and reports to support decision-making. Scan paperwork into the system to ensure accurate and accessible records. Collaborate with production, purchasing, and logistics teams to support warehouse operations. Provide quick responses to production issues to minimize delays and maintain workflow. Keep an organized and clean office space to support efficient daily operations. Assist with monthly, quarterly, and year-end inventory audits as needed. Serve as a backup shipping clerk when required to ensure continuity of operations. Perform other related duties as assigned by management to support overall warehouse and scheduling functions. Essential Skills High school diploma or GED.
Required:
One year of warehouse or related shipping experience. Ability to understand facility scheduling needs and translate them into actionable schedules. Demonstrated attention to detail in all tasks and duties. Strong time management skills with the ability to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment. Ability to look ahead, anticipate needs, and adjust schedules as necessary. Familiarity with Excel and inventory-based systems such as SAP. Proficiency with computers, including data entry and report usage. Ability to create and understand reports to support production decisions. Strong work ethic with self-managed conduct and behavior. Ability to function as a team member and collaborate effectively with personnel in multiple departments. Ability to handle and prioritize multiple tasks simultaneously. Flexibility and adaptability to changing production demands and needs. Experience with shipping and receiving processes, including packing and picking. Comfort operating in a warehouse environment and supporting logistics activities.
Additional Skills & Qualifications Preferred:
Associate degree and one year of experience within a manufacturing or warehouse environment.
Preferred:
Three years of shipping and receiving experience. Experience operating a forklift in a warehouse setting. Experience with data entry related to inventory, shipping, and production records. Ability to support inventory audits on a monthly, quarterly, and annual basis. A desire to promote the success of the organization and production staff. Strong communication skills to work closely with production, purchasing, and logistics teams. Proactive, team-oriented mindset with a focus on continuous improvement in scheduling and shipping processes. Work Environment This role is based in a warehouse setting where you will encounter typical conditions associated with production and logistics operations. You will work primarily on a first-shift schedule, Monday through Friday from 6:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., with very rare overtime, supporting a strong work/life balance. The environment features tight-knit teams where temporary staff are treated as full-time team members, fostering a collaborative and supportive culture. You will use computers, Excel, inventory-based systems such as SAP, label printers, scanners, and other standard warehouse and office equipment. The position requires maintaining a clean and organized office area within the warehouse and adapting to changing production demands while working safely and efficiently alongside other team members. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of East Moline, IL. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $18.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
