Job Description

Job Title:
Shipping and Receiving Clerk Job Description The Shipping and Receiving Clerk accurately receives, verifies, labels, and routes incoming materials while preparing outbound shipments in a timely and organized manner. This role combines hands-on warehouse work with data entry and inventory control, ensuring that products move efficiently through the facility and are delivered to the correct internal sites. Responsibilities Receive incoming products by matching them against purchase orders to verify accuracy of items, quantities, and part numbers. Physically inspect, count, and label all received materials to ensure they are clearly identified and traceable. Designate and route received items to the appropriate site or department that requires the materials. Scan each item into the appropriate container, such as pallets or other designated units, to prepare shipments for timely dispatch. Use pallet jacks and forklifts to safely move products throughout the warehouse and staging areas. Enter data into the computer system, including inventory updates, part numbers, and shipment details, to maintain accurate records. Perform inventory control tasks such as cycle counts to reconcile physical stock with system records. Use RF scanners to track and manage products during receiving, picking, packing, and shipping processes. Assist with picking, packaging, and packing orders to meet shipping schedules and customer requirements. Load and prepare outbound shipments, ensuring products are secured and correctly documented. Support general labor tasks within the warehouse as needed to maintain a clean, organized, and efficient work area. Follow all safety procedures, including proper use of equipment and adherence to facility guidelines, while lifting up to 40 lbs unassisted. Essential Skills At least 2 years of shipping and/or receiving experience, with a minimum of 2 years specifically in receiving. Intermediate computer skills, including the ability to enter and update inventory data and part numbers accurately. Strong data entry skills with high attention to detail and excellent counting ability. Experience with shipping and receiving processes, including picking, packing, and packaging. Proficiency in using pallet jacks to move products safely within a warehouse environment. Ability to operate or learn to operate forklifts for moving and staging materials. Hands-on experience with inventory control and cycle counts. Ability to use RF scanners for tracking and managing inventory. Capability to perform general labor tasks in a warehouse setting. Ability to lift up to 40 lbs unassisted on a regular basis. Additional Skills & Qualifications Willingness to use a pallet jack regularly to move products throughout the facility. Interest in receiving forklift training provided by the employer. Comfort working in a fast-paced e-fulfillment and warehouse implementation environment. Strong organizational skills and the ability to follow established processes and procedures. Ability to learn new systems and adapt to process improvements through structured training. Work Environment This role is based in an e-fulfillment warehouse environment focused on delivering implementation services such as design consultation, technical integration, buildouts, and retrofits to maximize site efficiency. You will work with technologies and equipment including pallet jacks, forklifts, RF scanners, and computer-based inventory systems. The standard schedule is Monday through Friday from 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., with overtime offered as needed and communicated in advance to help you plan your time. The facility emphasizes safety and efficiency, requiring steel-toed shoes and allowing jeans as part of the dress code. You will work in a hands-on setting that involves regular movement, material handling, and collaboration with warehouse team members to keep operations running smoothly. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Edwardsville, IL. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $20.00/hr.
